Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Denman One Name Study & DNA Project
« on: Thursday 13 April 17 20:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi Liz

Not just a Denman connection but Jones as well lol

My Denman connection ends when Rebecca Denman married Joseph Bartlett in 1821 in Lopen, and from there I'm Bartlett, Cable, Lang and Perry all South Petherton area, my mother was a Perry.  So my Denman line goes from 1700-1821, I've only wandered through the parish records on ancestry so far so it's not very good.

Kent / Re: SISSINGHURST CASTLE - ORIGINS OF?
« on: Sunday 04 December 16 12:01 GMT (UK)  »

Just thought I'd say Hi even (though this is a rather old helpful post), I'm feeling a bit swamped with my Barhams
My line very briefly is:
Edward Dadswell m Elizabeth Elliot
John Elliot m Ann Barham
Nicholas Barham m Mary Barham (Holland)
John Barham m Mary Courthope
so now I'm looking at John Barham's parent and a line that seems to end up in Sissinghurst Castle and beyond.  I'm guessing the line back to Fitz Urse is correct and has been thoroughly research by lots of more able people than myself (history is not my thing) but where to start (staring at John thinking it too bigger task lol)
Anyway just thought I'd say hello
Deb

Yes FreeReg has proved to be extremely helpful with the Eynsford area.

I guess I'm going to have to pay a visit to the Archives place again, love scrolling through microfilm lol

William and Mary had:
Melicent Mary (1842-) mar Hugh William Jones
George (1843-) mar Emily Gibbard
William Frederick (1845-1929) mar Ellen Ann Watkinson
Elizabeth (1847-)
Peter (1848-1941) mar Mary Eliza Curtis
Martha Mahala (1850-1908)
Elizabeth Gibson (1852-) mar John Frederick Long
David (1854-)
Boethius Symmachus (1856-) mar Emily Gosling
Thomas (1858-) mar Emily Devine
Mary Ann Blackbourn (1859-)
Edith Emma (1862-1949) mar Alfred Baldcock
Richard Francis (1866-1951) mar Leah Louisa Maddams

I have children etc for all those that are married.
No idea what happened to Elizabeth, David (maybe ended up in Hove) or Mary Ann Blackbourn.
And Martha Mahala is pretty much sorted now

Boethius is a name passed down, he proved a bit tricky, think he might have changed his name to William later on, but sort of nailed him now.

The Bookers have been a real struggle as the parish records for Eynsford are not on MedwayCityark Gggrrr but Horton-Kirby, Crockenhill and Dartford are which has helped with those that left Eynsford.

Certificates are a bit expensive but I may just wander to the local archives they have them there on film.
She's not really one of mine, her mother would be my 2nd cousin 4xremoved (according to ancestry) so not my direct line, it's just that a while ago I bought a postcard on Ebay addressed to her, at the time hoping it might belong to someone a bit closer to me as my Bookers are from Eynsford, so I'm just trying to attach it to the right owner, which is Emily Beaumont, the address matches with the census.
I'm going to put her with Martha for time being who seems the most likely parent as I've pretty much eliminated all other possibilities.
Thanks for your help.

Hi
Thanks
That could be her with a few spelling errors :)
William and Mary had a daughter Martha Mahala who never married, in 71 she was a servant in London, by 81 she was back in Eynsford as a servnat (not with parents) and by 91 she was back in London, died in 1908.
So this could be it
Thanks again
