Who did he marry, and how did you get back to him?

Both those censuses have him born in Ceylon, and the other one will be a different Robert Henry Wood born Clayton.
I think it is the same person as the 1901 says CORPORAL ROYAL ARTILLERY

Yes - the original copy says Ceylon - where did Clayton come from?

Marriage certificate for name of Father.  1899 to Josephine Ladd.

If Mary Ann was born 1864 that's not her on the 1901, that Mary Ann was born 1849.
More likely to be a wrongly transcribed Margaret Ann on the 1911 at Gorleston, Lillie and Ernest are with her no James but says she is married.
