Thank you so much for your reply.
You might have helped solve this for me.
I was looking for a Terence Francis Lynch and a Mary Lynch who migrated to Australia from Ireland/India.

Also, in Australia there was a fund set up for The Empire's Patriotic Fund Applications it seems one of my ancestors applied.  At least I realise what happened now.

This is him.  (Although he died on 25 Dec 1905 in Victoria, Australia age 36)  I am not sure how successful he was with his application.

Description:   225 - Edward James Lynch
South African Light Horse
Edward James Lynch
Date range:   1901 - 1901

Thank you Tree Spirit!
I appreciate you time and effort in resolving that.
Thanks again
Karen :-)

Australia / Re: Trying to Locate the Lynch Family in Australia
« on: Wednesday 31 January 18 23:32 GMT (UK)  »
I apologise, for some reason I wasn't getting the notifications for my post.

I just wanted to thank you so much for you help with this family search and the information you found.  I am still trying to confirm whether or not Terence Francis LYNCH was the fellow in Ballarat who passed away in 1922.
I've also found some other information on that is confusing me more.
in 1901 there were two people a TF Lynch and a MJ Lynch who left Victoria for Capetown South Africa,  aboard the Orient.   Did see the online entry of these two but I am not sure if there would be any further information about them?

Thank you so much for looking for these details for me.  I was told the family referred to themselves as Danish so perhaps they moved to Norway from Denmark??  I am not sure.

Thank you again Ian for all of this information.  It is truly so very helpful.

Kindest regards

Karen

Ian, I was told by the Great Granddaughter of Edward Johnson's (Edvard Jorgen Jorgensen's) that the family considered themselves Danish.  So it may be possible that there is a link back to Denmark? I am not sure where to look but I did find this on Ancestry.

Denmark, Select Baptisms, 1618-1923 (in Danish)
BIRTH, MARRIAGE & DEATH
NAME:    Jorgen Jorgensen
FATHER:    Jorgen Bertelsen

I am not a paid up member at this time.  I am hoping to renew in the next few weeks so I am not sure if this has any relevance or not?  I am guessing there are a lot of Jorgen Bertelsen's?

Thanks again for your help!
Karen
