Australia / Re: So, when did the McGregors go to New Zealand?

Hi Peter
Do you know whereabouts Mary's brothers lived in NZ as this could potentially narrow it down to a 'port destination' and given the rough year frame it could make it easier to work out.

Hi Suzy. Here in NZ we have records in NZ Archives for the women and men who signed the suffragette petitions. Is there not something similar in the UK. Just an idea.

Other Countries / Re: Margaret and George Taylor in India

Thank you everyone for the help. This is a lot further along than I was before. Has been confirmed through extended family that Margaret was very young at the time of her marriage. Still trying to ascertain which or indeed if she was in an orphanage, but it's looking most likely.

Other Countries / Margaret and George Taylor in India
« on: Friday 07 October 16 09:40 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find info on Margaret Taylor born 1826 in India and her father George Taylor. Margaret married William Amner in 1843, Fort William. A recent story in my family suggests that Margaret ended up in an orphanage in India and was married at 14, although her birth and marriage years calculate to 17. She ended up in NZ after the death of William, where she remarried Charles Raven. The name I have for her mother is Mary, but no idea if that is correct.

Hi Sarra.
I had a quick look on BDM NZ Historical Online Records. After typing in the name and birth year, there is a record for an ERNEST ROY CARROLL FLANAGAN listed. Parents are father Patrick, mother Ada. The BDM Registration number for ordering is 1974/139835. Hope this helps. Rachael

Hi there. Have you tried the Auckland Online Cenotaph Database. If your ancestor is listed there is usually embarkation details etc etc listed, sometimes photos and you can leave a poppy for your relative as well. Hope this helps.
