Wow AMAZING, thank you so much, may I ask how you figured out the date? I have others to decipher and I haven't been able to find a document that helps with numbers in the 15th century..,

They use Roman numerals.
So 1 is an 'i'. The last 'i' is always written as a 'j'.
5 is a 'v'
10 is an 'x'.

So iiij here in this piece you've posted is 4.

xxviij would be 20 + 5 + 3 = 28
and so on.

Take a look at this site:
https://www.shakespearesworld.org/#/guide/numbers

Awesome, I thought that's what it might be but wasn't sure. I learned the roman numerals in school, but that was a long time ago, guess time for a refresher. Thank you so much for the info!

Here is an interesting link which covers naming patterns well:  http://www.tarhalla.com/naming_patterns_for_children.htm

There is also this to consider:  http://ourfondmemories.com/Sweden15.00_Patronymic_Naming_Practices.htm

Amazing, I really appreciate this info, thank you!

Hi yes the Scots had a naming pattern typically it was
1st son after paternal grandfather
2nd son after maternal grandfather
3rd son after father

1st daughter after maternal grandmother
2nd daughter after paternal grandmother
3rd daughter after mother

Subsequent children could be named after family friends vicar influential people etc

Perfect, thank you very much!!
