Hello GuyHenry,

You probably have loads of stuff now on Albert Richings, but here goes............ I have been working on the Richings family tree.  (Wotton Under Edge) They are a really interesting bunch.  Why do you call John infamous? Has he done something else?

I am back to John the Baker....b.1790.  Do you have any info re:  Albert's wife? Her family had a sweet shop near to John's butcher shop.

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Re: Guernsey...RICHINGS Family

Thank you so much for this information. Much of what I have is from Find my Past. Census information for the Channel Islands comes through ok but I have yet to discover how to find Channel Islands BDMs, etc. Your information is magic because I do not have any of the non census stuff. I have really searched for Jacob's death certificate. I want to find out if there are any Richings related to Jacob on Guernsey or elsewhere who would like information about their family in Gloucestershire.

Hello Lucy2,

I am not sure you will get this post. But here goes.......... I am looking for any descendants of John Richings, b. 1839 who went to New Zealand in the mid 1860s. I am also interested in any other Richings who relate to his family.

Hello Janette,

Thank you for the info. I have to wait now and see if Lucy2 notices my posts. I hope she does.

Hello LU & Cazay,

Firstly.... can I please send information to both of you?

You are both correct about quite a lot. You have given me some snippets that I do not have. If you are looking for John Richings, b.1839 Gloucestershire... son of John Richings ..Butcher of Wotton Under Edge.... I can help you.  How do you relate to him?

I can help you, but I don't want to give you information you already have. Also....bear with me because I need to eat!

I am so pleased to make this contact with you.

Hello Spades,

I hope you get this.................. I am unable to access message 4. I think it must have arrived before you moved me to a different bulletin board?

I think the 2007 post is the one which will link me to living descendants of John Richings, b. 1839 and therefore positive evidence.

I did mention 'dork' as a suitable description for myself!

Hello Alan,....... and Spades

Thank you so much for your reply. I must confess that all of the information I received Sunday evening was the most wonderful surprise ever.
I signed up to Roots-Chat because a good friend remembered she had seen something related to 'Richings' on a 2007 post. I tried to find it but couldn't. My attention was 'side-tracked' by lots of information. Finally at 4a.m. this morning, eyes swivelling like corks in a gin barrel, I decided to call it a day. The last 'check' I made was a message from Spades asking me if I had seen message 4. I hadn't. When I looked, it was the self same 2007 post mentioned above. I believe this to be living relatives so I have postponed looking until today. Exciting or what!...... I too am an amateur, very disorganised but good at finding 'bits of magic' such as John, b.1790's lisp. I try to put flesh on the bones rather than merely collect numbers of names.

Hello Spades,

Thank you (and Minniehaha) for your wonderful help with my search for John Richings, b. 1839. It looks promising. I thought I received a link about the train accident which killed him and now I am unable to find it. Please can you help with that?

I had planned to have an early night but decided to check my emails first. The rest as they say, is history!.......It is now nearly half three a.m. Doh!
