Other Countries / Great Grandfather born in Jamaica
« on: Sunday 04 March 18 18:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I know it is a long shot! but I am trying to track down any information about my paternal great grandfather. His name was James Edgar Clunis, the only information i have is what he has given in a 1911 Welsh Census and from his death certificate. He was approximately born in 1887 in Kingston, Jamaica. He came to Wales, however i do not know when or how he arrived, can only find him in the 1911 Welsh Census at the age of 24, he has also given his religion as a Presbyterian. He was 36 when he died and his children were very young, so no family stories or memories handed down.

I have no idea where to start looking or if i have enough information to get off the ground!!
Any information would be gladly appreciated

Hello All,

I was wondering how do i go about obtaining a death certificate of a British ancestor who died overseas...
My great uncle Neri Clunis was in the Merchant Navy and was found drowned in Bordeaux, France in 1940.

Any info would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

The Common Room / Resident by parentage??
« on: Friday 02 June 17 20:27 BST (UK)  »
Hello i am trying to research my great grandfather, he was born in Kingston Jamaica in roughly 1887, i can not find many records for him. I have managed to find him in the 1911 census, where his birth place is listed as Kingston  Jamaica, but it also states that he is a resident by parentage, just wondering what this could mean? Does it mean his parents were British? Also my grandfather was black if this helps, feel a bit silly for asking.

Cheers

Kris

The only official documentation i have is a marriage certificate for William, he was married in May 1883 in Cardiff, his father is listed on marriage certificate as Daniel Sheehy and is also listed as deceased at this time.

« on: Tuesday 17 January 17 17:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi i am looking for any information on my ancestor William Sheehy 1857, who came to Wales in about 1882 apparently on the run for an incident with the black and tans. He was using his mothers maiden name of Ryan, was having difficulty locating him in welsh census's and asked for further info all of the details are provided in this link http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=763211.9

If indeed he was on the run and the incident with the black and tans is true, where do i go to find out more information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Glamorganshire / Missing ancestor
« on: Tuesday 17 January 17 16:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hello there,
Could anyone help me find this man!!

William Sheehy 1857 he was born in Ireland, but came to Wales before 1882, story goes he came of the boat and met his wife Maria O'Connell whom he married on 1 May 1883 in St Davids Church, Cardiff, i can pick up his wife and children in the 1891, 1901 and 1911 census for aberavon, but he is missing from all of these, i was wondering where could he be? He died 27 April 1928 in Aberavon, also his wife and children, have appeared in the census's as Shea/Sheely.

Any info on where he could be or why he is not in the census's would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
