Wigtownshire / wilson?
« on: Tuesday 12 December 17 08:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, guys, hoping I've finally broken a wall down after all these years. My gg granddad john Wilson married esther brotherton in 1861 Wolverhampton and listed his birthplace as Scotland 1842 and father james - a tin smith which matches james Wilson born 1816 Wigtownshire living in London road Wigtownshire in stranraer but cannot find james or his wife elizabeths death date, his whole children's line seems to emigrate or vanish after 1881. There's a james Wilson baptised in 1817 wigtown with parents mary simpson and Thomas Wilson but in 1841 census the only ones in Wigtownshire (married 1830) are listed as born in 1806 which can't be right. Any help setting me on the right track and helping me extend this possible breakthrough would be very much appreciated.

Hi lizbd, I bought Sidneys marriage certs of jan 1904 and 1908 and they match the data I have on him but I haven't bought the oct 1904, maybe it was another Sidney john kingdon or maybe it was him but pretty desperate to marry two more women in short amount of time if it was him.

Thanks guys, Sidney listed his dad as deceased on the cert of his second marriage even though he didn't actually die till 30 years later and as sidney moved to wales I think there might have been an argument upsetting the family, maybe sidney was a bigamist but I thought amy Winifred kingdon might have been an abandoned daughter that Emily listed in her own name after Sidney moved away.

Hi guys, does anyone know when  Emily jane seward born 1875 devon died? she married Sidney john kingdon in Barnstaple 1904 before he moved to wales in 1906 and married someone else but I cant find her in 1911 census she might have changed name or married again, also an amy Winifred kingdon born 1904 and buried pilton 1904 might have been her daughter but subs has run out so cant check FindMyPast baptisms and she might have only listed herself and not father in baptism register, thanks for any help on the matter, driving me crazy.

Hi lizbd, thanks for getting back to me, along with my own research I found similar trees to me on ancestry list matthew as born 1720 but haven't seen any of them go back further than him, was hoping to break that certain wall.
