Arranroots that would be great.  I'm trying to find the birth of my Gt Gt Grandfather, c 1831.  His name is Richard Jones. One of my problems is that according to census returns he changes the place he was born. In 1861 he gives his place of birth as Llanidloes, then 1871, 81 & 91 its Aberdare then 1901 its Neath!!!

He married a Mary James who was born Cadoxton juxta Neath. I cant find that marriage in the Neath area, but there are two possibilities in Merthyr in 1851 & 1852. But without knowing either of their parents names I'm not going to know if either of those 2 matches are right!!

I have a relative - Maria Jones who was born in Martinhoe and travelled to Neath after marrying a John Brooks from Bratton Fleming.

I wonder if they may have been brother and sister, or related in someway and one encouraged the other to move to Neath?

I live in Neath so know the streets fairly well and King Street is in the same area of Neath where my relations lived. 

As I'm actually in work at the moment I havent got dates to provide but it may be there is a link.

I'll dig around in my file when I get chance!!

P.S. I went horribly wrong on the Lynton Jones family as my Maria, once she'd moved to Neath, starts giving her place of birth as being Lynton not Martinhoe, and unfortunately, there was a Maria Jones born in Lynton the same year that my Maria was born in Martinhoe, and I chased the wrong line back - way back

My Gt Gt Grandmother gives it as her residence at time of marriage (1856).  The family certainly dont own it, she must have been working & living there.

I have googled it and it seems to still be open.  Does anyone know what its like? 

Also, just to be sure - is it a different Black Lion in Abergorlech? That came up in a few search engine results, need to make sure I visit the right one if there are 2 in close proximity!!

I'd like the baptism details of my ggg grandmother if possible. Her name was Ann Williams and she was born c1811 in Bettws, daughter of Philip Williams & Sarah Isaac.

I've seen Karren's offer to look up Bettws records on the Lookup Offer section so here's hoping....
