Thanks for all of your rep[lies.
In 1901 henry Johns was in Aldershot employed as a bootmaker. ...as Heywood says. On the 1901 census Henry is given as 50 years old (b.1851), single and born in Soho, London.
In 1911 the census shows Henry as still in Aldershot but is married and residing at Perowne Street.
He apparently is still 50 years old. The fact that he says he is married is untrue. He gives his wife as Ellen Johns but in fact there was no marriage. She is Ellen Weedon (nee Mason)
They are renting a room from Ellens brother. Also on the census are two children. One is Amelia
(my mother) born 1911. What is not mentioned is that Ellen has three other children in a childrens home in Crondall. Ellen and Henry had another daughter soon after but she died as a baby. Henry then disappears and I cannot find any trace thereafter. A death of a Henry Johns in Aldershot about 1935 is NOT my Henry
Some three years after Henrys disappearance Ellen reverts back to her previous married name of
Weedon and marries a George Sotheran in Aldershot.
Henry Johns is my grandfather on my mothers side. I can find no definite results as to where Henry came from prior 1901 and where he disappears to after 1911.
Hope this is clear.
Dud.
