Northumberland / William Baty and Mary Ellen Proudlock married Jan 1882 Hexham
« on: Thursday 11 February 21 09:20 GMT (UK)  »
I’m trying to trace the parents of this William Baty

William Baty and Mary Ellen Proudlock married Jan 1882 Hexham

They had at least 2 children :-

Thomas Baty who emigrated to Australia, I don’t know when he was born

Isaac Baty born 1883 Hexham

Isaac emigrated to New Zealand, he married there in 1906. I believe his parents and possibly another sibling went with him too.

I’m particularly interested to track when and where William Baty was born and to whom.

Can anyone help please

Thanks, Christian

There is a possible burial in the Horton BTs for a Daniel Richardson, aged 66 buried 5th Feb 1835

This age at death would give an approximate birth year of 1769

Thank you Boo and apologies it has taken me so long to reply.
Daniel Watson Richardson was born 13 Nov 1838 in Killingworth and married Eleanor Reed in 1859, so that burial wouldn’t be him. They are on the 1871 census together in Bigges Main. She died in 1881 and he was already deceased by then, this is from the Morpeth Herald April 9 1881 : At Bigges Main on the 29th ult, age 47, Ellen widow of the late Mr Watson Richardson, much lamented.

Can anyone please find a suitable death for either Daniel Richardson / Watson Richardson or Daniel Watson Richardson between 1871 and 1881, perhaps even a newspaper announcement?

I must be missing something here.

If this girl was born in 1809, to Daniel Richardson and Isabel Ellison then how could her father (whose burial you said may help ) be born in 1838 ??

Boo
Apologies! I’m having a mad moment I’ve just picked this up again after quite a while away, and I started looking at a different Daniel Richardson, a descendant of said Daniel Richardson! Please do completely ignore me!

Did her parents remain in Hartburn, where were Daniel & Isabel buried
On the siblings baptisms, the father is detailed as native of Long Benton, mother native of Longhorsley. They seemed to have moved around a lot, he was a hind. The children were baptised in order at Hartburn, Bedlington, Meldon, Longhorsley, Stanton, then finally Hartburn again with Jane Richardson. I don’t know where Daniel and Isabel went after that or where they died. That would help.

Is there anyway to exclude or otherwise prove that the Jane Richardson baptised to them is the same one that later marries John Hepplewhite and has her place of birth on census as Howdon or Tanfield and not Hartburn.

I’m not sure where they are buried unfortunately. Her older brother was baptised in Longhorsley. I don’t have any younger siblings, although there may be some...

Can anyone help me please

Jane Richardson born 6 Jul 1809, baptised Hartburn 13 Jul 1809 to Daniel Richardson and Isabel Ellison (Allison)

I am trying to find her on later census / marriage

Some trees have linked her to a Jane Richardson who went on to marry John Hepplewhite on 4 Apr 1831 at Heworth, Durham. This Jane Richardson then appears on census with him and her children as either born in either Howden or Tanfield, not Hartburn. Can this be the same Jane Richardson detailed above, and if not, what happened to my Jane Richardson (daughter of Daniel & Isabel)

Thanks, Christian

Its a very difficult one as;
2 Bapts 10 Mar 1769
ELIZ Robson 10 Mar 1769 Bellingham Father Matt, abode Longhaugh
DOROTHY Robson Heddon-on-the-Wall  to Matthew/Isabel

So looks like at least 2 Matthew Robsons around in the same time frame.

As to the Bellingham Matt this may be the Marriage;
Marriage;
15 Dec 1765 Bellingham;
Matt ROBSON to ISAB ROBSON
Grooms abode Longhaugh

Thank you very much Trish. Yes, that is very tricky.
I already had a date for my Matthew Robson and Isabel Taleford as 28 Nov 1765 in Simonburn.

This additional marriage date you’ve found would therefore rule out the ‘suspect’ siblings I’d found as they were to the Matthew Robson of Longhaugh. That would then put your 2 John’s back in the running.

I’m not sure what else to do, as you say, perhaps someone else might have an idea or be able to throw some light on this.

Thank you again for taking the time and making the effort for me (again!)

Christian
