Family History Beginners Board / nurseryman
« on: Tuesday 28 February 17 22:00 GMT (UK)  »
1909 found a relative who owned their own business and called themselves a nurseryman or nurseryguard
He left a sum of 200 pound to his son on death. His wife carried on the business as well.
Any idea what a nurseryman was (something to do with farming?) and would he be classed as a successful business man in those days?
thanks

World War One / missing letter
« on: Sunday 26 February 17 23:43 GMT (UK)  »
I found a letter in my grandfathers ww1 service records stating they could give no information other than he was missing and to contact the red cross in London.
I assume writing in response to his mother's inquiry as her name was attached.
It looks like a bog standard issue
He obviously was found and came home and discharged with pension  but I wonder where I would find information on when and where he went missing. the letter has no details other than it was in my grandfathers ww1 service records but most of these records have faded.

I came across a job description of nurse girl for my relative in a lincolnshire census 1911. She was only 15 years old so I assume not a qualified nurse. Anyone any ideas what a nurse girl might be and job description

hi I am looking for information about my late aunt's Gwendoline Sutherland death. She was born and lived in Grimsby born 1939 mother Marjorie Andrew and father Sidney Pogson. Her husband was (*), her son was also (*). she died around June 1968 in Halifax. Where would I find any newspaper articles or inquest reports. She fell from a block of flats somewhere so I assume there would be reports
I live abroad so I have no access to Grimsby  Telegraph
