Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Doncaster Lookup

thanks for that, but I had already checked the IGI and BVRI, perhaps I should have mentioned that.

I know the IGI isn't exhaustive either, so I was hoping someone with actual parish register transcripts would have a peek.  I didn't think that having one son being born Oct 05 would preclude Joseph being a possibility, I don't think I have one marriage on my tree where the bride wasn't already at least quite pregnant, but perhaps thats just the moral quality of my tree!

I also checked Joseph FIELD baptisms, as its quite possible he was baptised before any marriage.

Thanks for you input, its appreciated.

I'm trying to trace a Joseph Field JOHNSON.  He lived in Middlesex in 1841, but was marked as not being from Middlesex.  He died October 1847, Age 42, so born c1805.

Then I came accross a marriage in Doncaster for a Joseph JOHNSON to Susannah FIELD 20 Nov 1804.

Would anyone with Doncaster Records be kind enough to see if my hunch is correct?

Many thanks

Technical Help / Re: Powerpoint and Outlook Express

There is an option (at least in version 6) of OE that prevents attachments being opened, which you can just check/uncheck.  Personally, I would only change the registry as a last resort (its nasty when it goes wrong...), allowing all attachments could be a security risk, but you can try and compensate for that by things like turning off automatic download of preview message, turning the preview off altogether, utilising virus software to check your mail etc.

If you let me know what version of OE, and what operating system you are using I'll have a deeper look.

You might also want to check your file extension associations.  You don't say what operating system you use, but for example on Windows XP its:

Control Panel
Folder Options
File Types

See if PPS is on the list, and is associated to open with Powerpoint, if not, add it!

I forgot what a good site that Manchester Photograph one was.

It still looks the same, apart from the vintage cars of course!

Probably the nearest park to that address would be Marie Louise Gardens, which was there from about 1904, and still remains.  Though of course theres also Didsbury Park, and Fletcher Moss close by, and a bit further off, Fog Lane Park.  I think Hough End, and Christies Playing Field which one of the other posts I think meant, were always just that, playing fields.  Hough End is still there, Christies got a hotel built on it.

Fletcher Moss has a great botanical garden, and used to have stuff like Orchid Houses, they closed the greenhouses maybe 10 years ago.

Further to that other reply, Orchard Street wasn't affected by the Withington Hospital site being demolished, and is still there today.  Sorry I don't still live there else I'd take a snap for you.

It is still there, is a little street just off Burton Rd, I used to live a few streets down.  Its right behind the old Withington Hospital buildings.  The houses, if I remember right, were low victorian terraces (ie just the ground & first floor).

You should be able to see it on Google maps or something.
