World War Two / Merchant Navy records
« on: Thursday 18 November 21 16:33 GMT (UK)  »
My late father was in the Merchant Navy from the early 1900's.
I have managed to find online from the National Archives a list with his WW1 medals but am unable to access the list with his WW11 medals. Also, I am having difficulty in finding his service records. I really would appreciate some guidance as I seem to be going round in circles on the National Archives website and not getting anywhere. Thank you

Hello VillageDuckPond :)

Charles Vinter senior (Charles A. Vinter's father) was my great-great-great-great-grandfather.

In my direct bloodline the Vinter name married out with my grandma, however we have kept it a family tradition to give some of the children 'Vinter' as a middle name like myself.

Hello TVM
First of all I must apologise for not replying to your message as I have just got back to Rootschat after a long gap and have only just seen your message!
My aunt (by adoption) Dorothy married Percival Vinter and they lived in Sheringham. Do you know who I mean? I am doing my birth family history at the moment so really must not let myself get side-tracked but didnt want you to feel I was ignoring you.

Does anyone have this surname in their family tree? If they do, I would be very interested to hear from them.
