This one is odd, I have recently requested his service record, that may help, would this cap have only been supplied to Army regiments?

Hi, I have been able to take some better photos of the Cap, hopefully the colour coordination and the close up of the buttons may help identification?  Can anyone advise?

Many thanks

Thanks for the identification, being RA, I think the story must have become confused over the years within the Family.  The top Cap I will investigate further, looks like it might be some kind of generic forage cap.

Good afternoon,

I am trying to find the death certificate of my great Uncle (William John Knapp b.1914) who was killed in an RAF training exercise accident on the 19th of August 1942.  I want to apply for his service record but the MOD request his death certificate.  I have looked on various websites but cannot seem to locate one, would one have been issued?

Many thanks for your help.

World War Two / Volunteer Fireman - London WW2
« on: Sunday 19 January 20 00:58 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening,

Are there any surviving records of Volunteer Fireman in and around London and Surrey from WW2?  My great Uncle was 37 years old when the war started so likely deemed 'to old' to sign up and as such joined the fire service. I wondered if any documents are in the public domain? Do any 'service records' exist or similar?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
