Antrim / Maggie McClure 1889
« on: Monday 12 October 20 16:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Whilst researching my Scottish ancestors, on a birth certificate  I found the couple were married in Belfast.
Never having to do any research in Ireland before I was interested in finding out more about the bride who I presume was Irish.
She was Maggie McClure and married Edward McGiveran on July 3rd 1889 in Belfast. He was born in Coatbridge Scotland in 1866.

So any information on Maggie McClure and her family would be appreciated, or pointers as to where I may look for information.

Thanking you in anticipation

Cheers
Erika :)

Hi Christopher

Welcome to Rootschat

Thanks for your interest in the Ruffell family.

I presume you are talking about John Ewers who married Myra Ruffell.

What is your connection and who is your Ewers link?
Eliza and John are my husband's great grandparents.

Cheers
Erika

Hi Bronwen

Not a lot of help I'm afraid.
No Rubbathan listed at all, but variations of the name include Robotham, Robothon and Rowbotham.
Not sure whether you have ever come across those spellings in your research.

The following are who are recorded
Oliver Robotham  of great age 10 March 1667/8 but doesn't say where buried, just in the Parish of Llanbrynmair

Oliver Robothon  23 November 1691/2

Frances Rowbotham relict of Oliver Rowbotham deceased 7 April 1671/2  maiden name could have been Tart  buried in Pennant

John Ralph (alias Robotham )  29 August 1718

Sarah Ralph (alias Robotham ) 19 December 1718

Sorry nothing else after that unfortunately

Maybe the local Family History Society has more records that would help, always very knowledgeable there.

Good luck and enjoy your visit.

Erika :)

Hi Steve

Had a look for William Brees burials after 1867, but all I found were
1789 4 July William Brees  Tafolwern  pauper
1791 8 June William Brees Tafolwern

I will carry on looking for the others as I also have burials fo 1813 - 1837

Incidently although I got these burial publications when I visited LLanbrynmair, they are available from the Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society. They have a several publications which maybe of interest to you.

Cheers

Hi Steve

I don't have a FindMyPast sub so am not sure what registers they have.
I just have the burials for Llanbrynmair Hen Capel. I have ancestors buried there.
Don't know if that makes a difference?

Cheers

Hi Steve

Not sure if this is any help to you, but I do have copies of Register of Burials in LLanbrynmair  1711-1749 and 1749 - 1793.
Obviously not exactly the information you want, but it could help with burials.

I see you have Brees as one of your names, I expect this is the LLanbrynmair connection.
I too have the same name in different forms, and it is quite a challenging name to sort out the families and who's who >:(

Will gladly check any burials if you want

Cheers

Hi Tom

Have checked for possible wives of Richard, quite a few names, but none living at the address where Richard was living at the time of his death. Have you had any luck from the IGI?

My Brees/Breese all came from Llanbrynmair, but there were so many families and with similar names I too have come unstuck. Got back to 5x grandfather b. 1724 and then ????
I haven't done too much digging with them recently, maybe I should start again!

Let me know if you need any more lookups done for St Mary's and I'll try to help.

Cheers

Hi Tom

I have just got copies of the burial records of St Mary's Llanbrynmair, but they don't give any family information.
The record I have pre 1806 doesn't give ages unfortunately, but I will look to see if that address appears against any of the female burials.
Dinner beckons so it maybe a little later ;)

Cheers
Erika :)
