I guess if no other records of Samuel cannot be found in Great Braxted, They have either been lost or he moved.

I did a quick google search and I see Great Braxted and Bradfield Combust  are about 30-35 miles in distance. I am not an Historian so whether it would have been common for people to have migrated that distance in the 18th century I don't  know. Nor am I familiar with that part of England.

Out of interest does a marriage record of Thomas and Elizabeth exist, and if so, is a maiden name listed for her?

Cheers

Is there any further records relating to Samuel Butcher in Great Braxted, marriage, death etc.

Thanks again for all your help.

Thanks again.

I guess the question  is what happened to Samuel after he was orphaned? Elizabeth and Thomas were likely his parents.

My ancestor in question married in Suffolk 1749/50 as Samuel Butcher. However the surname on his Children's baptism records are a moveable feast Bouchier, Bourchier, Bouchien, Boutchies, Bouchinne etc. Which has added to the mystery.

Thanks

My ancestor ended up in Bradfield Combust later Brent Eleigh Suffolk. There is no Baptism record for a Samuel Butcher circa 1726-8 in Suffolk. So I am looking at neighboring counties. There were a couple in Norfolk but I have been able to eliminate them. I thought this an interesting possibility to check out.

Suffolk / Sarah Miller/Moller Marriage 1755
« on: Sunday 08 July 18 01:34 BST (UK)  »
I am seeking some information on an ancestor Sarah Miller/Moller who married James Thornton in Lavenham 29 October 1755. I am wondering if the marriage may identify her parents?  There are two possible candidates Sarah Miller baptized July 21 1738 St James Bury St Edmunds to Henry and Mary or Sarah Miller  bap July 25 1734 in Lavenham to Francis and Susan.

It would also be a big help to know her age at the time of Marriage. I am wondering if anyone has seen this record or can go into Bury St Edmunds to look at it?
