The Lighter Side / Re: Is the story about teeth removal true?
« on: Sunday 01 May 22 23:04 BST (UK)  »
I was a child in the 70’s.

I remember both my maternal grandparents had their teeth removed and wore dentures.  My Nan found hers uncomfortable and kept them in her handbag only putting them in for special occasions.  It’s my understanding they both had all their teeth out before their 50s.

A request has been submitted to the diocese, but as we are approaching Easter, a busy time for the church I don’t expect a prompt response.

Being a RC church the records are a little harder to access.

They’re not available online at Essex Records office.

Essex / Location of Cemetery
« on: Thursday 07 April 22 20:09 BST (UK)  »
I have a funeral Warley pre 1900, the church in question doesn’t have a grave yard attached and but the notice in the newspaper says ‘Brentwood Roman Catholic Cemetery’  but where would this it?

There is one in Woodham Road which opens in 1926 so not this one.  There appears to be a small cemetery next to what is now the Catholic Cathedral but this appears to small for general use.

I keep coming across references to it but no actual address, maps have been viewed but nothing is leaping out.  Maybe another set of eyes can spot it.

I have a great Uncle who died in similar circumstances during blackout.  He doesn’t appear in the civilian war death but he is in the local papers.

Could this accident have happened in a different county?

I volunteered in a vaccine centre.  We appear to be gearing up for after 3rd April with staff numbers.  Although I’ve seen a few 75+ coming in through the normal booking system for their ‘Spring Booster’.

The Common Room / Re: Your first 1921 census look up

It would be my great grandad on my mother’s side, I can’t find him on 1911 census, he was a very dodgy character according to my Nan and moved out of the family home when she was a child.  He died in 1923, I’m hoping he’ll show on 1921 it might give me a clue on what he was up to.

1841 Census was in June so it’s extremely feasible that as Agricultural Labours that they could be moving around for seasonal work.
