Hi
The 1841-1861 censuses have him with wife Ann Woodison.
They married 12 Oct 1835and their  daughter Sarah was born 1836.
She is a widow in 1871.

The marriage might have witnesses that tie in with the family back at Candall and his parents William and Sophia Vass

Sorry I missed your reply.

Do the marriage certificates state the names of the parents during this time period?

Also, how am I able to access the full certificate?

(sorry new to English records  :-[)

Parish of Crondall

FindMyPast Baptisms (image/transcript)

7  Jul 1816, William, son of William and Sophia Vass, abode Dippenhall, father's occpn Labourer
10 May 1818, William son of Stephen and Anne Vass, abode Eveshott, father's occpn Game Keeper

FindMyPast Death (transcript only)
William Vass, age 2, place Crondall, buried 17 Jan 1819

The death record would appear to apply to the 1816 birth - although age is often suspect on records?

Thank you for looking - It does appear that the death matches the 1816 baptism. I did notice that some people have put those two records together in their tree thinking it was my William Vass. Another reason I am wary about this record.

The digital image of the death entry is available to download immediately from the GRO, cost is £2.50.
Was he married or single?  The informant on the death could be a family member you can tie in.

Where was he living on the 1861 census?

He was married at the time of his death to Ann Woodason (abt1817-1897), I purchased his death certificate, but unfortunately, it produced more questions than answers, the informant with a Charlotte Woodason, who was present at death. (I'm still trying to work out the connection between Ann and Charlotte.)

On the 1841, 1851 and 1861 Census, they lived in Easthampstead, Berkshire.

They were married on 12 Oct 1835 at St Michael & St Mary Magdalene Church in Berkshire, and he is also buried here.

Hi,
I am trying to determine if William Vass that died in 1868 in Easthampstead, Berkshire is the same William Vass that was baptised in 1816 in Crondall, Hampshire.

I know that William (d.1868) was born about 1815 in Hazeley Heath, Hampshire which makes sense that they are one of the same but I just need that last bit of evidence to be able to confirm that it is correct.

Does anyone have any advice that may be able to help please?

Thank you,
Kez

Hi Irene,

I too am related to Duncan Vass (5th Great-Grandfather) and am having trouble finding his birth/baptism record.

Have you had any luck since posting?

Thanks

Kez.  Forgot to add that Giovanni was baptized on May 2 at Santa Maria di Merola Church.

Also, I don't know if you're familiar with the National Archives of Australia but here is the link with a little bit of info  on Francesco Domenico Ringeri and a Teresa Ringeri/Raco who comes (in 1949) from Molochio also.  Hope this helps your search.

Kez.  There doesn't seem to be any individual marriage records, only the 10-year index you provided. Here is the translation for the index: Ringeri, Giovanni s/o Pasquale and Mustica, Carmela, and Zito, Francesca, d/o Giuseppe and Raco Maria.  Married on 14 Aug 1886, record No. 13.

Ringeri, Giovanni birth:  Year 1856, May 2, appeared Pasquale Ringeri s/o Antonino, age 29, labourer, living in Molochio, who presented a male child and declared that the child was born from Carmela Mustica, his legitimate wife, age 26, living in Molochio, and from himself, declarer Ringeri, age 29, labourer, living in Molochio, on the 1st. of the aforementioned month at 2:00 o'clock in the night, in their own house.  The same also declared to give the child the name Giovanni Ringeri.
Witnesses:  Giambattista Franco, age 38, labourer, living in Molochio
Paolo Vinci, age 28, cow herder, living in Molochio
The act was signed by us; the declarer and witnesses having said that they could not write.

Thank you!! :)

Kez.  Here is the translation.

In the year 1895, on July 21 at 8:55 A.M. ….at the Town Hall of the Comune of Malochio, appeared Ringeri Giovanni, aged 39, laborer, living in Molochio, who declared that at 8:40 P.M. on the 18th of the current month, in the house at No. 6 Vargo Fontana, from Francesca Zito, spinner, his wife, who lives with him, was born a male child, whom he has presented, and to whom he gives the name Francesco Domenico.  The witnesses present for this act were Pasquale Caruso, age 38, shoemaker and Carmelo Melara, age 42, landowner.

Side Note:  On April 1, 1922 (Act No. 13) he married Siciliano Annunziata, daughter of Alfonzo and Macri Giovanna, born on April 17, 1900 (Act No. 58).

If you work backwards on the website I gave you, can can probably find her birth and the birth and marriages of their parents.  Let me know if you need any help.

Hi Mary50

I managed to find 2 records.

The first is the index of the marriage of Francesco's parents

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/v/Archivio+di+Stato+di+Reggio+Calabria/Stato+civile+italiano/Molochio/Matrimoni+indici+decennali/1886-1895/007695335_02755.jpg.html?fbclid=IwAR3axYISGcemy8x7LEvKLWrBaQfTJYTjqBLEC9QYmIIV9dQlLM9bliHS83c

and the second is the birth of Francesco's father Giovanni

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/v/Archivio+di+Stato+di+Reggio+Calabria/Stato+civile+della+restaurazione/Molochio/Nati/1856/007693850_01448.jpg.html

Can you please translate those records for me please? Only if you have the time and its not too much trouble.

Thank you so much.
