Thank you for trying, they are quite blurry.  We don't have many photos from Mums side & my sister just found this one.

thank you

Are you able to make the photos attached any clearer please? A bit of a long shot I know. My mother Jean Crosby is in them both but trying to identify the others.

The NZ Army hats are called 'lemon squeezers', for obvious reasons!
That made me smile.  Well done, thank you.

The cap badge and collar insignia look like the 1st (Canterbury) Company of the Canterbury Infantry Regiment.

I'm not aware of any family from Scotland having gone to NZ.  Was it normal to go out there to sign up. Would they have come to Scotland during the war & that's how the photograph got taken?

I'm  on my small laptop so have limited software to make it clearer  - agree it says Dyer. Then possibly Lanarkshire  :-\
 Definitely December.

The larger markings are either photgraphers mark or a childs scribbly writing.
That would make sense, Lanarkshire is where the family came from
Thank you

The lady on the right looks very old.  Would you think it is his wife  - who would be the same age or his mother?

The man looks to have the same long nose.
Same man about 20 years later?
Thank you

Hi

First one - Clothing, moustache/sideburns and back suggests early to mid 1880s - say 1882-5.

So that would put the man early 30's, which would be about right. Thank you

Are you able to identify the uniform. No writing on the back but was taken at T. Johnstone, 71 Brandon Street, Motherwell
