Search over. This can all be ignored as I have found that the Thomas Stuart son of Robert Stuart & Margaret Inkson died 30th September 1855 aged 83. Mother's name Inkson. He was also in Knockando in 1851 a farmer aged 79 married to Elizabeth & with 2 grown up children. So it looks like I am back to the original Thomas baptised in Aberlour in 1774. Thanks everyone for all your help & sorry it has all been wasted although I did pick up a few tips along the way.

Right I have had another look at the baptism record & his mother was Elizabeth Bremner but Elizabeth was spread over 2 lines & the beth looked like Scott ( I know it's my eyesight) & I obviously saw Scott as a witness & put 2 & 2 together to reach 55.
Sorry.

Sorry I am getting in a bit of a muddle here.
There is an Elizabeth Scott in my tree & I got mixed up so forget the connection with George's mother.

Thank you Forfarian,
I must own up to another error on my post. Patrick Bremner & Margaret Gordon were married in Mortlach not Marnoch. (I must review my information before posting it). I believe Mortlach is not very far from Aberlour.
The gravestone does give their ages as Thomas died 24th May 1842 aged 68 & Elizabeth died 7th July 1850 aged 76 which would make them born in 1774 but I was allowing some leeway in the fact that people were not as aware of ages in those days as they are now.
I know what Libindx have on their page but have they been misled by whoever first checked & went with the Thomas born in Aberlour in 1774 & therefore everything else was accepted from that opinion. (I know that was what I first thought).
It was the issue of the naming pattern for the children which first got me thinking there may be an alternative Thomas Stuart.
I now have a copy of the baptism for Thomas in Knockando in 1772 & it says. Thomas son of Robert Stuart & Margaret Inkson in Corgyle baptised before the congregation in Aberlour. The maps show Corgyle as being very close to Aberlour. The index from S/P shows it as Knockando.
The only baptism I have at present is for their son George who was my 2 x great grandfather in 1807. The witnesses were George Scott (possibly his mother's brother) & George McDonald in Ruthrie.

I have a photo of the gravestone which shows their dates of death.
I also have a baptism record for Thomas in both 1772 & 1774.
I am now more convinced that it as 1772 when he was born which goes against the vast majority of trees that I have seen.

Yes I have a copy of that census. Thomas died in 1842 & Elizabeth in 1850. Shame she did not live till the 1851 census which could have cleared a few things up.

I have just noticed an error on my post. Thomas born in 1772 at Knockando. Parents were Robert Stuart (not Bremner) & Margaret Inkson.

Sorry if this is rather long & possibly confusing but I am trying to work out who my 3 x great grandparents, parents were.
Thomas Stuart & Elizabeth Bremner were my 3 x great grandparents. They were married in Aberlour in 1797 & the marriage record says they were both in the parish of Aberlour, but does that mean they were born there or living there at the time of their marriage.
Their gravestone indicates from their ages at death that they were born in 1774.
They had 8 children all born in Aberlour.
Ann (1798), Robert (1801), Patrick (1803), William (1805), George (1807), Margaret (1810), John (1812) & Thomas (1816).
My initial query was to find out who Elizabeth's parents were.
Looking on S/P index there was 3 options for Elizabeth's birth/baptism.
3rd July 1774 at Keith, parents James Bremner & Janet McKenzie.
(Elspet) 11th March 1775 at Rothes & Dundarcus parent George Bremner.
3rd October 1779 at Gamrie, parents Peter Bremner & Christian Thomson.
I have discarded these for various reasons but then with a little help I was pointed to a Patrick Bremner who married Margaret Gordon in 1751 at Marnoch (which is not too far from Aberlour). They had a daughter Elizabeth born in 1752. Could this Elizabeth have had an illegitimate daughter in 1774 (my Elizabeth) & possibly died in childbirth & Elizabeth was raised by her grandparents. The fact that 2 of Elizabeth's children were called Patrick & Margaret gave me a small clue due to the Scottish naming pattern, although not definite.
This then led me to question Thomas's birth & parents.
There is a Thomas born 26th April 1774 in Keith, Parents were Thomas Stuart & Elizabeth Geddes.
The general consensus has been that this is the correct person, but as with the naming pattern then his parents do not match with the children.
Looking a bit wider I found a Thomas born in Knockando (not too far from Aberlour) to Robert Bremner & Margaret Inkson in1772.
If I take this to be Thomas's parents then going by the naming pattern I have the first son Robert named after the paternal grandfather, the second son Patrick named after the maternal grandfather & the second daughter Margaret named after the paternal grandmother. One fly in the ointment is Ann (1798).
Another slight factor being that Patrick was not that common a name at that time (I think). Also one of Patrick/Peter's (he changed his name before he married) children was called Gordon.
I know there are a few gaps & if's in here but I would appreciate any thoughts.
PS. Libindx goes with the birth of Thomas in Keith in 1774 but has that been used because that was what others have said.
I hope I have not bored you or missed anything out or am I trying to reinvent the wheel.

London and Middlesex / Re: Arthur J Cable & Anne Bysouth marriage 1931

I have now seen the 1939 register from FindMyPast (it is really frustrating that I couldn't see it on Ancestry even when looking for Edward George Bysouth). The address as shown on Arthur Cable's death record is the same as Annie Elizabeth's parents so that is a pretty good indication she is the correct person.
The other annoying thing now is that I can't see any trace of her after the 1940 death of Arthur. I presume the addition of her name was made at a later date but when.
Could she have died in the Blitz & were all the victims recorded or not.
