Hi all, struggling with maiden name of Mary Prendergast born  mayo, Ireland  . Married Luke Prendergast,  son Thomas, daughters Bridget, Anne and Mary  living in Hull  from 1861, died  1895.. not sure if her maiden name Machon or Nealy !!

Again thanks Maureen and Heywood. Would like to see what it says on 1851 census but can't find it ??  Also no mention of Luke ( Mary's husband, dad of Bridget, Ann and Thomas)

I have now found Bridget Prendergast who died in 1879 , birth year 1853. About same year as Bridget from my tree, so not sure if Bridget Prendergast marrying James Callaghan is right one. She gives 1857 as birth year.. its all confusing . I suppose only way forward is buying bmd certificates

Just been looking at the 1861 census , it states Mary's daughter Bridget 9 years old born in Hull , then daughter Ann aged 6 born in Ireland. This seems strange to me, I don't understand why they would have gone back to Ireland at this time . As it was time of the great famine .. any ideas please. Also I can't seem to find 1851 census for Luke or Mary

I often find the ages seem to differ between some  census , yet the same people live in the same house 10 years later !!  I was trying to decipher the baptism link you sent and was thinking it was showing Mary's maiden name  starting with a M ..  yes young Mary would have been illegitimate as Luke had passed away 1858. Great info ..

No Maureen , not come across a Hugo Lydon, they all seem to be Michael and James in my tree. But it's  very interesting him being a lodger with Mary in 1881. He could be a brother of Ann's husband Michael

Yes should be 1858, so Mary is widowed in 1861. Thank you so much, that has really helped me. I have also tried to do a lot of searching for my Irish ancestors especially the Lydons . I know they came from Swineford County Mayo , I cannot find any records from there . I was told a lot of Irish ones had been lost , but seeing your link give some me hope I can find out more there. thanks again Heywood ... first time on here and it's been great . Lots of help from different people

Not seen that before, thank you Heywood.  Where was this found , I think this is definitely Ann from my tree. I have Ann and husband Michael Lydon living Machell Street once married
