London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / 1861 Joseph EVESON - 11 yrs
« on: Tuesday 06 March 12 20:49 GMT (UK)  »
This is my my penultimate major mystery

I've found him in every census except 1861

Births Mar 1850
Eveson  Joseph    St Saviour  4 537
Deaths Mar 1926
Eveson  Joseph  76  Southwark  1d 85

In 1851 he's at 17 Broadwall Christchurch, London. Age 1.
HO 107 1557 17? (not sure of the last digit)

Joseph Eveson 26 Greengrocer London, Smithfield
Eliza E(lizabeth) Eveson 27 At Home Somerset, Bath
Joseph Eveson 1 Surrey Christchurch
Susan Beale Wife's mother 65 formerly laundress Bath

I never found this family (Old Joseph + Eliza) again - young Joseph must be somewhere at age 11 in 1861. In 1871 I found young Joseph married.

Yes I was, another tripwire for the unwary  ;D

It IS on the IGI as you say  ::)

I was using a different search screen and I just couldn't find it. Weird. Thanks both!

I've come back to this after years of doing nowt and I have found a note.

Elizabeth Thomas and Joseph Eveson were married at Christ Church Greyfriars, Newgate, London
19-Jan-1823

They are not on IGI but my notes say I found the marriage on IGI.

Several of their childrens' birth records and baptism records are on IGI. Can anyone do a quick check elsewhere online to validate that this date is correct? If not I'll find out where the records are held and go there.

Thanks

She was consistent on h CR (admittedly only two found for certain).

As she was probably a servant in 1841, she was probably not living at home and the main point i to identify John and her Mum. I just don't think we have enough to go on - I need to find more facts!

I think your plan of the detailed baptism search is best.

Thanks

Alan

I did look at her, but I think she's too young because the birth was also in 29? I'll check IGI but I think she'd down as being born in '29 too, so 13 when married in 42 at "full age". Not impossible. Hard Wallman is new to me, not seen that before.

I think the ball is back in my court to find even more info!

The occ is pretty clear on the marriage cert. Definitely xxater and I'm pretty certain it's Slater.

You've been a star, and I'll fire this thread up again if I find anything out.

Hi All

Can anyone help me with a lookup on any of these christenings? The family is in Assignton, Suffolk. John and Maria Piper. It relates to the thread here:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=584775.new%3Btopicseen#new

I'm wonderng what the father's occupation is recorded as (if at all). Mary Ann fits as one of my relatives, she recorded her father's occupation as Slater.

John Piper 17 May 1818
Harriet Piper 07 Jul 1822
Mary Anne Piper 26 Sep 1824
Maria Piper 15 Oct 1826
William Piper 1828
John Piper 1830
Susanna Piper 1832
Thomas Piper 01 Mar 1834
Sarah Piper 22 May 1836
Eliza Piper 1838

Thanks

Alan
