Galway / Baptism - Thornton c.1807 Furbo/Furbough, Rahoon, Galway, Ireland
« on: Sunday 19 July 20 14:25 BST (UK)  »
Can someone please see if there is a Baptism in Rahoon Galway c. 1807 for an Ephrain/Ephram (possibly Edward) Thornton with father John Thornton.

I already have Baptisms for Mary Thornton 1811 and Michael Thornton 1813 at Furbough/Furbo Rahoon Co. Galway Father: John Thornton Mother: Not Recorded

If there is an Ephraim/Ephrain (possibly Edward) c. 1807 it will help to see if this is the Thornton family I am looking for with mother Catherine (I only have mum's first name and no dad's name on Convict papers) and Mary having two brothers Michael and Ephraim/Ephrain (possibly changed to Edward).

There is a Catherine Thornton Baptised 1820 at Churls Hillock, Rahoon, Co. Galway with Father: John Thornton Mother: Catherine Walsh. She may also be a sibling (possibly deceased) but it appears Mary Thornton only put living members of her family on her Convict papers as her Father is not listed and neither is her deceased husband.

Kind Regards,

Wayne

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Census lookup or any oher available resources

I am trying to locate Edward Bruin/Brewen/Brewin/Bruyn/Bruen and his wife Margaret.

The two people I have found on freebmd deaths may not be them but they are worth looking at.

These two potential people that I need to research further are Edward  Bruen died Sep 1840 at Gt Boughton 18 32 and a Margaret Bruin died Mar 1854 Stockport 8A 25 who may be a possibility as both places are in the same county.

The Edward and Margaret that I am trying to locate were either born/married in Ireland or France as their son was born 1813 in Roscommon Ireland and their granddaughter says that about 1844-48 that she was living in France with her people who were an old established French family.

Their son Daniel and family moved to Australia in 1856 (which is after both of these two deaths).

Kind Regards,

Wayne

Roscommon / what parish/county would this be?
« on: Thursday 12 December 19 06:37 GMT (UK)  »
I am thinking whoever recorded the parish had trouble with the Accent as the ship arrival records (in Australia) say he was from Killaqueen Roscommon. What parish/county would it be?

Hi,

I am needing a marriage year checked.

For some reason I have Daniel Bruyn (Bruin) marrying Sarah Nicholls (possibly Nickolls/Nichols)

St Michaels R/C Church West Bromwich 8 Feb 1834 (transcribed from French births and a death) and 5 Feb 1837 (provided by someone in a genealogy group) and I am hoping that someone could check and see which date is the correct one.

Kind Regards,

Wayne

Warwickshire / Kings Norton birth records 1856 and 1858 plus marriage 1855 Birmingham.

I'm not sure if this is the right county but on freebmd they come up as Warwickshire.

Does anyone have access to records that show the parents?

I have two births that I am certain are the children I am after as their names, location and dates of birth all match up.

Ellen Nicholls (2) and Sarah Jane Nicholls (-1) are listed as passengers on the Daphne in 1859 that arrived in Australia with their parents Joseph Nicholls and Mary Ann Allison married Dec 1855 Birmingham Vol 6d page 73 (names of witnesses at this marriage would be appreciated too).

They are

Ellen Nickolls - June 1856, Kings Norton Vol 6c Page 433
Sarah Jane Nickolls June 1858 Kings Norton Vol 6c Page 420

Thanks in advance

Roscommon / Bruyn/Bruen 1758 -1820
« on: Saturday 20 April 19 08:04 BST (UK)  »
In my research I have found a page on the IGI that I printed out years ago.

It says Edward Bruen born about 1758 of Diocese, Elphin, Roscommon, Ireland. married
Margaret Dingwell 1787 of Elphin, Connaught Province, Ireland.

This marriage is 26 years before the birth of my Daniel Joseph Bruyn who was born about 1813 Roscommon, Ireland with parents Edward and Margaret

Any and all assistance to try and see if the above Edward and Margaret is my Daniel's parents, is and would be greatly appreciated.

I know unfortunately lots of Irish records are destroyed and births often don't have much information (sometimes just the child's name).

I know it is a long shot and the timeframe is quite large between this marriage and the birth but so far this is the only marriage of an Edward Bruyn/Bruen to a Margaret I have found.

Thanks in advance

Hi I am looking for a Protestant ancestor "James Salter" whom previous family historians have not been able to locate.

He arrived in Australia on the Morley 2 Dec 1829

Age: 21
Occupation: weaver and butcher's labourer
Religion: Protestant

He first appeared in the Stamford Mercury 30 April 1819 page 3 Column 2 at the quarter sessions for the city of Lincoln on Saturday last .....John Sparrow and James Salter for stealing a hawser rope, the property of James Bartholomew Cuttill.

For some reason (maybe a typo) a previous family historian has his birth as about 1803 but if 21 when he arrived here it would be about 1808.

The name Robert has been passed down through our family so he probably had a sibling named Robert.

Thanks in advance

I am wondering if anyone is researching Bruin/Bruen/Bruyn family in Graville, Le Havre, Seine, France 1700s and 1800s.

I am trying to find out if my Daniel Bruyn born about 1813 Roscommon, Ireland is connected to them via his parents Edward Bruyn and his wife (I am lead to believe her name was Margaret). It is either him or his wife that is supposed to be from a long established French Family and as I don't know his wife's info, I have to start with his.

Daniel Bruyn and Sarah Nicholls's son Daniel Justin Bruyn was born in Graville, Le Havre Seine France in 1847 his birth entry is Page 97 (entry 190).

They also had a daughter Mary who was born and died the same place Daniel Justin was born (rue Catinat, in the district of Trigauville, in Graville).  Mary's entries are birth 1845 page 74 (entry 146) and death 1846 page 155 (entry 305).

Thanks in advance.

Galway / Ulick Thornton late 1700s early 1800s
« on: Saturday 17 February 18 02:06 GMT (UK)  »
I have looked through the Parish Records (several times) for Saint Nicholas N & E Galway provided by Maggsie and with the records available I can not find a marriage or a death for a Ulick Thornton wife Catherine.

The only mention of a Ulick Thornton I can find anywhere is a baptism for a Michl Thornton 21 Sep 1815 Saint Nicholas N & E Galway.

He is looking like a brick wall that will go no further.

Civil registrations has a Catherine Thornton born about 1788 and died 1872 (aged 84) Galway but no other info.
