Armed Forces / Trooper Aspinall Trooper Lisimmer 1927
« on: Wednesday 16 October 19 12:42 BST (UK)  »
My grandfather was in the 15/19 Hussars.( born 1903) We have his diary for 1927, in it he mentions the deaths of the above Troopers and their burials. Sadly no first names mentioned. Does anyone have these guys in their tree? I have looked on CWGC, but no deaths for either on there. Lisimmer could be a mis-spelling as the name is not coming up anywhere. Lissimore maybe?

Nottinghamshire / Hugh Heald 1634-1708
« on: Wednesday 02 January 19 17:20 GMT (UK)  »
Please forgive my ignorance on this subject. Hugh was my husbands 6x great grandfather. He was baptised 26 Oct 1634 in Marnham, Notts.
At some stage he became a Quaker, he paid fines in 1663, 65, 69,75 and 76 for not paying his church dues.
He died 29 Feb 1708 and the Quaker register says "was buryed in his own burying place at Grassthorp".
His wife Isabell who died in 1729 was buried 8 April 1729 in the Friends Burial ground at Carlton on Trent.
Now I know these villages well, I have checked out Mr Google and cannot find any reference to a Quaker burial ground at Carlton, As for Hugh's "own place" well I don't even know where to start on that one!! I know some friends burial grounds were dug up and the bones placed in mass graves. But I cannot find anything on Carlton. Any help at all would be most welcome. I hope he is not in someones garden  :o

The Common Room / Strange- where did it go??
« on: Thursday 18 October 18 13:46 BST (UK)  »
I assume for some reason the last post I made has been removed. About Ancestry and their over enthusiastic moderator.
Well a little ironic really if that post has been removed by a moderator on here?  MAYBE  ;) the same one  8)  :o
I am jesting---honestly. See I used the happy heads!

World War One / Frederick William Faulkner
« on: Tuesday 10 July 18 20:05 BST (UK)  »
I have found a record for the above named. I do not know much about Navy records as most of mine seem to have been in the Army. I am not sure where to start with this so please excuse me if I waffle on a bit!

Royal Navy Registers of Seamen's Services; Class: ADM 188; Piece: 287

The man named at the top of the page with the number 174614 has all his details- age, height, tattoos etc. But on the same page underneath this mans details  is written 175595 Frederick William Faulkner. Then follows a list presumably of ships he served on. But no personal details listed as with the man above. Would this have been "normal" practice to enter someone in this way. If so where can I find Frederick's personal details. The 2 men's numbers are not even close, so how does that work. Very confused and hoping someone can help.

Nottinghamshire / George Raworth 1803-1842
« on: Sunday 01 July 18 12:12 BST (UK)  »
I have posted before on this family, but double checking I do not think on George in particular.
George was killed by his father John, 21st May 1842, in North Collingham. John was transported and died in Van Diemans land.
I would love to know if there is anything in the newspapers about this, surely a newspaper would have a murder of son by father. Any help at all much appreciated. I do not have access at the moment.

Nottinghamshire / Raworth of Eakring
« on: Friday 09 March 18 13:57 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Thomas Raworth married 22nd Sep 1729 to Elizabeth Thompson in St Nicholas, Nottingham. By licence, both bride and groom are from Eakring.
I cannot find a baptism for this Thomas and wondered if anything would be on the licence- father maybe?
There is a baptism at Eakring on 26 Mar 1706 parents John & Elizabeth father a clerk , but there is also a burial the following month for  Thomas father John a clerk. Did John & Eliz. baptize another Thomas that I cannot find?
Any help at all please would be very welcome. I have gone bozz eyed over this one ::)

Not sure how I have managed this or how I rectify it- so here goes.
I have TJ and his wife SD with their son DJ-in the Focus Window, all of DJ's details are in his box as are his wife's. Her parents are there too. It then says children 0. But underneath this I have TJ and SD again with DJ and wife again same details in their boxes but then their 5 children. How do I "lose" the double whammy I seem to have produced.
