If he is deceased - his birthdate will be on his death registration.  His marriage cert will only give his age and fathers name - not his birthdate or birthplace.

The wife you mention may possibly only have been born in the 1940's

A great idea in theory...

Many flaws though (as many pointed out) - lots of graves don't have any marker or gravestone, or the cemetery has removed them after their 25-year lease has expired...
