United States of America / Joseph Samuel FORD
« on: Tuesday 10 April 18 09:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find information regarding Joseph Samuel FORD and his wife Olive Margaret Ann. They were married 1965 in Australia before moving to America as that is where Joseph was from.

I know Joseph was born 1927 in Houston, Texas and died in 1997 and where he is buried but I'm hoping to find Olive and if they had any children as I am related to Olive through her mums side of the family.

Regards

Hi everyone,
If a married lady has a child to another man what name would be on the birth certificate?

Also what surname would the child usually have?

This was between 1920-1922.

Thank you

Wales / Reverend John EVANS
« on: Saturday 15 October 16 00:27 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find some information about Reverend John Evans father of Sarah YATES previous KERSLAKE, WILLIAMS, JONES nee EVANS. According to her headstone:

Sarah Yates (daughter of the Reverend John Evans of Brancalen North Wales) died 17 March 1882 aged 42 years.

Notes: The tombstone in the Presbyterian section at U 84 has "In memory of Sarah daughter of the Reverend John Evans native of Brangalla North Wales and the beloved wife of William Yates who died March 17th 1882 aged 42 years.

Who was the Reverends wife?

Any information is very much appreciated.

Travelling People / Commercial Travelers and Circuses
« on: Wednesday 07 September 16 09:44 BST (UK)  »
Could traveling circus employees also be known as commercial travelers?

According to my great-grandmothers marriage certificate her father was a commercial traveler.

And I know the boarding house she was living at was very popular with circus employees as the owners son went off with one.

According to my DNA results I descend from Patrick O'BRIEN and Margaret TOBIN and I am hoping to find out more information about them.
I know Patrick was born 1835 in Ireland and Margaret TOBIN was born c1854 also in Ireland.

They were married 19 Feb 1873 in County Limerick and had the following children:
Mary
Patrick
Winifred
Beatrice Mary
Patrick
Margaret Mary
Thomas
Annie Frances
Barney

Thomas died on the Titanic and I know what happened to all the other children except Patrick and Barney. They appear on the 1911 census then disappear.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

New Zealand Completed Requests / An odd one
« on: Monday 18 July 16 04:24 BST (UK)  »
My great-great Uncle Sidney/Sydney SAMWAYS married Gladys Alfreda WADE in 1932.
They had 2 daughters before Gladys passed away in 1936.

According to NZBDM Gladys was born 1909 to Thomas Edward Norman WADE and Jessie French Ternahan.
I received her death certificate today and it states her parents as Thomas Wade and Lucy GIBB.

I will order her marriage certificate this week but does anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone know it?

If a child is born to an unwed teenage mother and is then brought up by the grandparents, would the child necessarily be adopted?
