Hi there fiftywinds...cant help with James Newcomb before 1788 I'm afraid but I am another descendant of him.. through his daughter Bridget who married my 3rd great Grandfather Michael Burns (b 1810 in Cork)  I'm from Dumfries but now live in BC canada

Heres some info about my great Grandad... We have him married in 1903 at Dumfries, however there are connections via his Grandparents, Darby Pagden and Nellie Gunyon Pagden (What great names!) to Newcastle

He is commemorated on the Maxwelton War Memorial at the corner of New abbey Road and Rotchell Road Dumfries Scotland

Hi there Thomas Burns is my Great Granddad and he was born at Troqueer Maxwelton  (opposite the river Noth from Dumfries.  He worked as a carder at Rosefield Mills in Troqueer until joining the RSF in 1914   he died at Loos on Saturday 25th 1915.
