Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / 1901 Census Lookup of Stony Stratford - GOODMAN
« on: Monday 05 March 07 16:47 GMT (UK)  »
Has anyone access to lookup a family for me on the Stony Stratford 1901 census?

I'm looking for a gypsy family who I believe are in the 'Barley Mow Field' in caravans at this time.

They should be Edward and Reservoi GOODMAN and their children.  Can anyone get the details for me please?

Also - would it be possible to look at the neighbouring entries to see if they are also gypsies - in particular SMITH or LOVERIDGE to see who they are travelling with?

Would be really grateful!

thanks, Sarah

Travelling People / 1851/61 Census Lookup for LOVERIDGE in Olney and Towcester
« on: Monday 05 March 07 16:39 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the 1851 and/or 1861 census? I'd love to take a day off work and go and find these myself at the records office but the chance would be a fine thing!!

I'm looking for the details of my gypsy Emily LOVERIDGE and she should be at:-

1851 - High Street, Olney, Bucks as EMMALY aged around 3-4
1861 - Plank House, Towcester, Northants as EMIRLY/EMIERLY aged around 13

Please can you check the neighbours to see if there are any SMITH or LOVERIDGE families next door as they are gypsies?!

I would expect Emily to be living with her parents THOMAS & WINIFRED LOVERIDGE

Many thanks in advance

Sarah

Hi,

Does anyone have access to the 1871 census and would do a quick lookup for me?

I would like to get the details for:-

Little Gransden, Cambridgeshire
SHADRACH SMITH  - should be ~23 born in Towcester, Northants
EMILY SMITH  - should be ~22 born in Towcester, Northants

I think they should have two young children by this point - Isabella and Wisdom.

As they are gypsies - are you also able to quickly look at the neighbours and see if there are any other SMITH or LOVERIDGE families travelling with them?

thanks in advance!

Sarah

Rowena - thank you so much and for doing it so quickly too!!

This looks like a very very likely match.  My williams first child was called Ellen which looks like his younger sisters name.

This is just wonderful - thank you very much again,

Sarah

Hi,

Can anyone help with a Shoreditch lookup in 1851 or 1841 (or preferably both!)

I'm looking for a William Henry WALKER who would be age 15 in 1851 and so age 5 in 1841. The only problem I have is that I don't know his parents names BUT I do know two sisters are Elizabeth Walker and Susan Walker who were both unmarried in 1861 and so would be ages 26 and 23 in 1851 and 16 and 13 in 1841.  They were all born in Shoreditch.

William and his two sisters were living at 52 St Johns Road, Shoreditch in 1861 and he was there for another 30 years so this is probably a good place to start looking.
Now in 1861 William was a Brush Maker Master employing other men and as a brushmaking apprenticeship was 7 years he may have been living with another brushmaker in 1851?

Many thanks for any help it is very much appreciated,

Sarah

Hi Moira,

thank you very much for taking the time to look at this for me. They certainly look very promising. I've no idea if they are the right ones but mine do seem to just appear from nowhere so this could be why.

Just to clarify - are these the baptisms from the Evenley registers or from Norfolk?

thanks again,

Sarah
