The Common Room / Doris Reed Swansea/London
« on: Monday 08 April 24 19:20 BST (UK)  »
Please help!

I`ve a Doris Reed on an official document living at  Trafalgar Terreace in Swansea in 1950, she`s also on the Electoral Roll. At this time she was approximately 38 years old.

Doris left this address, I think, in the autumn of 1952.

I have some letters written by Doris with various addresses.

29th January 1953 Doris` address was 71 Mallinson Road Battersea SW11, having left her sister`s home, also in Battersea. She gives her sister`s name only as Mrs. Crawford.

14th March 1953 Doris was at the Mount Royal Hotel, Marble Arch ( now the Thistle)

5th May 1953 Doris was at 357 Acton Lane, Acton.

From the 10th June 1953 until the 11th December Doris was back at the Mount Royal Hotel.

I was told that Doris was born in Wales. The only one I could find searching for a 1912 birth +/- 2 years was in Cardiff.

I have tried to work sideways with a Reed marriage to a Crawford looking for her sister but without success.

I`ve also emailed the hotel group to see if there was any information they might hold, but no reply.

I`m hoping that a Rootschatter will read this and think they  might have a connection.

Thanks in anticipation !!

Just click on the link in reply 12 BumbleBee, there`s plenty to be ashamed of there.

Thank goodness we have come along way from those sort of descriptions of people.

It was about the same time that I worked in a  home for children, aged no more than 7, who also had a mental or physical incapacity, usually both.

The only visitors they had were social workers.

It was rewarding looking after them; I only left because we moved house.

Do you have the marriage certificate for 1811 marriage, only there is a marriage on FreeReg on 6th June 1833 at St Mary`s Church, Barton, between William Ashton and a Mary Stow.

Technical Help / Re: Mcafee anti virus
« on: Tuesday 05 March 24 11:35 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you.

In the past I always used a free one which suited my needs. I discovered that I changed in 2018, but can`t remember why !!

However, overnight 4/5 I received an email from them with all the details, expiry date etc. so that`s fine.

What a performance !! Good outcome though!!

I worked my way through to the online chat (I think) but it wouldn`t recognise the new email address, after I`d typed in all the information I could think of!!

Then my next thought was to go to my account and try the old email, instead put in the new one and it shows I`m subscribed until March 2025 !!

That`s it for this year, I just hope I don`t show myself up by having the same problem in a year`s time !!!

Thanks for your assistance.

Thank you. I`ll try that now.

I "have" got all my new information, including the email from them saying I`m now registered.
It doesn`t make sense to me at all.

Previously I had used a free anti virus which seemed to work o k.
