I don`t think it was either of those from what I can remember, although that is the right maker. It was a single CD which worked with Windows 98 and XP.

When you viewed the tree the "boxes" were oval, a bit like those plaques that mark the former homes of famous people, and coloured grey and lemon  for male and female.

It was a "Softkey" program ,which I gave to the person who took the old PC; they now haven`t got it and neither of us  can remember the exact name.

I have tried to Google it but with no success.

Thanks for your input

I`m hoping someone can give me some information on tree styles.

I`ve bought a new pc which runs Vista, but unfortunately the program I used on my old pc is not compatible. An updated version doesn`t seem to be available.

However, I really liked the style of tree which was laid out with the individuals in " medallions" but I don`t know what this style is called, so would be pleased if someone knows this as I`ve been searching for a program that does this without success.

I have also tried Legacy, but would prefer the other layout if I can get a program.

Thanks for your reply; please don`t go to any trouble as I already know quite a lot about her.

Margaret was my 2x great grandmother , she never married ( I know who was my 2xgt grandfather) and she died in 1911.

It`s a long shot but I am trying to solve the mystery of why she didn`t have my great grandmother living with her, so I am hoping that I will connect with someone who is part of her family tree.

Thankyou.

It is my grandfather I am interested in.

I have some photos of him in uniform and I know that he served in Palestine and on the Somme. I was going to track where he went from - I know what happened after. He was one of the lucky ones and came home and lived to the great age of 93.

There is some good info on www.armymuseums.org.uk if that is of any help to anyone.

Thanks for that.
If they have the info there I live near enough to go and look, but I never gave it a thought !! I was assuming it would most likely be at Kew. ( I know - never assume with family history)

Where would I find information on the recruiting office for Scunthorpe during the first World  War.

The person I am interested in lived in Appleby then, so I am assuming that he would have enlisted there.
