Travelling People / Re: Dwellings on Census

If you look at census entries pre 1911 the majority do not show exactly what type of accomodation the person is living in.  Some may show tent, caravan etc in the case of travellers but as far as I am aware there was no requirement to specify
Just noticed something - Ash Hill Common is their postal address, surely it would be a bit more detailed if it were a postal address right?

You can now see the first letter does indeed look like an 'S" - compare it to the 's' in 'Son'.

The dwelling above looks like 'Smidmore cottage'.
Thank you. Sorry I am still very confused to the "Smidmore" bit, as my ancestors are listed as "Smidmore" instead of "Smidmore cottage".

I know that I have made quite a few posts recently (not on this subject), but could someone please help me identify what this skin colour could possibly mean for the person? It seems quite dark, but not exactly black or white.

I'm sticking with Smidmore.

From google, in 1945, there was a city proposal:

Proposal: Agricultural details for upgrade of track at Smidmore
Address: Woodington Farm, Woodington Road, East Wellow, Romsey Hampshire SO51 6DQ

Also found mentions of a Smidmore Copse, and in that bigger clip, the "Smidmore" at the the bottom has the i dotted.
Ah thank you, do you know if any sort of assumptions could be made on their dwelling?

Ah ok, do you know where abouts in a 1911 census page it shows what type of accomodation the person is living in?

It would be helpful to put it into some context.
Also a bigger clip is needed really to compare how this writer forms their letters.
I presume it's from a census.
Do you have a county for where this place is?
