I've had a good look at the page and from others on there it seems it is a note of his marriage.
Contract of matrimony in /at Stella Morris Seaforth 16th Aug to Editha Cooperthwaite or as it says on their marriage reg Cowperthwaite which was 1924

For info. using translate Latin to English

Stella Maris (Star of the Sea) Seaforth Die 16 Augustus (on the 16th August) cum Editha (with Edith) Cooperth...?
Witnerus (witness ) Pat & Anastasia Cooper....?

I’m assuming Cooper...? is the surname of Edith, Pa?? & Anastasia

1911 census has an Edith Cowperthwaite b1901 sister called  Anastasia L  born 1905 (parents Henry J(ames) & Lilian) - edit to add (mmn Webster)

Just for the record the words in the first line are:

Contraxit mat[rimonium] in Ecc[lesia]
Stellae Maris....

Which roughly translates as '[He] contracted marriage in the Church of the Star of the Sea.......'

Reply #3 on this thread gives a useful background to this.

Fantastic, thank you so much.

I'm still not sure I understand what Stella Maris is (Googled it expecting a Church but its a maritime Charity for supporting seafarers and family.) However, it makes sense in a linked way as they lost their Father as children in 1918 as he was torpedoed whilst in Convoy. I shall do more research now.

Thank you all so much! You've not only helped translate but opened a new path now!

Thank you so much Ciderdrinker

I thought he married a Stella!! That makes sense - I have quite literally come across his Brother Patrick (Baptised 4 Dec 1901 at St Anthonys) who seems to have married at that Church too. He too had a sidenote on his Baptism records

Please could someone help translating a sidenote from a Baptism record? I’ve tried every way to upload a photo of it but I keep getting error messages.

The record is for James Kennedy, baptised at RC St Anthony’s Liverpool on 22 Jan 1900. MMN Heston. Father is John.if anyone can find that and take a look it would be so very much appreciated

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to every one that helped me with this thread. It has opened up SO much more information - more than I could imagine, including crossing the water to America! I'm determined more than ever to plan a visit to see Cross Abbey and visit Cross, Rinangh (?), Binghamstown and other places yet to plot!

I seem to have loose line through to a distant Archbishop John MacHale and there appears to be much information on him, providing insight into life and surroundings.

Kindness of sharing knowledge and helping me out is very much appreciated.
