« on: Monday 12 June 06 23:49 BST (UK)  »
Looking for relatives of Jessie Hall (nee Clinton) born 1880 in Salford.  Occupation - pattern card maker of Ardwick.  She had several children five of them being Edna Louie Clinton, Arthur Davies, twins Arthur and Harry Davies and Dora Codd (nee Davies) - all five are now deceased.  The other children I havent any details of.

I have been trying to find a marriage of Dora Davies to a man with the surname Codd.  I don't have much information and only hold a birth certificate of Dora Davies and her death certificate with her married name shown as Codd.  Given that she was born in 1915, I have tried looking for a marriage of Dora Davies to a man with the surname Codd from 1935 onwards but have had no joy.  Would be grateful if anyone can help.  Dora was born in Didsbury, Manchester and died in 1991 in Stretford, Manchester.

Lancashire / Jessie Davies and Dora Davies - Manchester Area
« on: Sunday 14 May 06 20:11 BST (UK)  »
Looking for relatives of Jessie Davies born in Manchester area in 1884.  Her occupation was a pattern card maker.  Davies is her maiden name.  I do not know whether she ever married.  She had a son, Arthur Davies in 1913 but died in 1915, a daughter, Dora Davies born in 1915 in Withington Workhouse and twins, Arthur and Harry in 1919 in Crumpsall Workhouse.  All of the children are illegitimate.  It was known that Jessie had other children in the 1920s but I do not know their names.  Dora and the twins went into Styal Cottage Homes, Cheshire.  On the Styal Homes records their surname is listed as Davies/Clinton, but I have no idea where the name Clinton has come from.  There is no mention of the father on any of the birth certificates.

I am trying to find info on relatives before and after 1884.

I don't know any more information about Dora or if she ever married, as she lost touch with the twins years ago.

If anyone has any info, please contact me.

Are there any relatives of Dora Davies and her family out there or anyone that knows of them?  Dora was born in 1915 in Withington, Manchester.  She had twin brothers, Harry and Arthur (both are now dead) and other half brothers/sisters (unfortunately don't know their names or anything about them).   Their mother's name was Jessie Davies but have no information whatsoever of their father.
Dora was at Swinton Industrial Schools from 1919 to 1923.  From 1926 onwards she was at Styal Cottage Homes in Cheshire, together with Harry and Arthur.

I have now come to a dead end and would be grateful to hear from anyone related to Dora or anyone who knows of Dora and her family.  I have no idea whether they stayed in the Manchester area.

Does anyone recognise the following names which were found on the death index:-

Dora CODD, Dec 1991, Trafford Greater Manchester
Dora ROBINSON, Dec. 1989, Durham Northern, Durham
Dora WOOLLEY, Nov, 1995, Torbay Devon.

If so, did either of these have the maiden name 'Davies'?

Lancashire / Advice needed on finding a marriage
« on: Monday 06 March 06 14:36 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out who my great aunt married (that's if she married at all).  The only information I have regarding her is her birth certificate.  I have found a few marriage names in the Manchester area who had the same forename and maiden name as her.  Until I go to Manchester to search through parish records, would it be worth me looking on the Internet for a date of death under these marriage names to see if the date of birth matches my great aunt's date of birth?

Any advice/tips would be much appreciated.
