Hi Spud,

The Lea and Lea Heath are two separate farmsteads although the hamlet is known as Lea Heath.

Hello Spud,
I was interested to see your post regarding Lea Farm, Hixon. My Atkin forbears kept the farm from about 1884 until 1914, it was rented. My family were farmers/butchers in that area for most of the late 1800's and from what I know it was mostly pastureland for dairy, beef and sheep. I did mention the Bank House public house, when my family were there it had a maltings and slaughter house so some butchering went on there.

Hi Spud,
log onto 'staffspasttrack' for photos of Hixon in later years. The Bank House pub was kept by one of my family in the late 1800's.

Hi Pennines,

Could it be Keele. There is a similarity. You probably know of Keele service area on the M6.
Part of Newcastle under Lyme.

becky,

There lots of photographs of Burton upon Trent on 'staffspasttrack' bearing in mind a lot of them are copywright for which you would require permission to use.

Checked marriages 1870 - 1890 but nothing shown for Mary.
