Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: Baptism Lookup - HORSFORD - North Petherton
« on: Friday 14 January 11 03:03 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Jacky:  Elizabeth Ann Warner was with another family as a servant in 1871 ( Benjamin & Catherine Allen ) and then on May 30, 1875 she married Charles Hawkins, b1851, in Bedminister, Somerset.

But Elizabeth Ann Hawkins ( nee Warner ) dies and Charles Hawkins married Elizabeth Ann Chorley in 1904.  Elizabeth Ann Allen had married Samuel Coles Chorley in 1890 !!

So was the "new" Elizabeth Ann Hawkins ( nee Allen ) from the family that Elizabeth Ann Hawkins ( nee Warner ) was a servant for in 1871 ??  I have not had time to follow that up.

If you want to email me (*) I would be happy to send along my Hawkins booklet in a PDF format.......that mite also give you more detail.

I have also found how to order micro fiche for the North Petherton area ( which I plan to order ) that would also give you more information...but you would need to review the fiche.

Thanks again and regards from Bob on Vancouver Island.

While not a family connection, my wife's G Grand Mother was a servant for Charles ( cooper master ) and Ann Horsford who lived at Back Street Star Inn, North Petherton in the 1861 census. Elizabeth Ann Warner, age 14 at that time, marries Charles Hawkins in 1875.   Regards...Bob on Vancouver Island.

Somerset / SLIP family - Bath
« on: Saturday 30 October 10 19:42 BST (UK)  »
William Slip b/c1898 and Phoebe b/c1797 have children Daniel, Edward, Sarah, John and Elizabeth ( aka Betsy ).  Phoebe was born in Newton, all others born in Bath. My interest is Daniel Slip b/1823 d/1854 who married Jane Chesterman .... they had daughter Phoebe Slip b/1845 Bath.  Phoebe Slip married Henry Cruttwell Perkins in 1869.  Their daughter Eleanor Louise Perkins b/c1796 is my Paternal Grand Mother.  Have found two "trees" on Ancestry.com who also have William and Phoebe Slip.  Looking for any other connections. Thanks.......Bob.

I am going back to the original posting by BUZZ as to Elizabeth Perkins.  I have my GGG Grand Father William Henry Perkins b/1801 in Hertfordshine.  His parents are thought to be John Perkins ( b/1785 in Wokingham ) and Ann Cruttwell ( b/ Workingham ).  My G Grand Father was Henry Cruttwell Perkins ... I believe the Crutwell middle name is strong evidence of the connection here.  Buzz has a Thomas Perkins b/  Wokingham who is thought to be the younger brother of John Perkins ( b/1785 ).

The parents of John and Thomas should be Thomas and Elizabeth Perkins.  If anyone can add to this that would be appreciated.

In addition, in the many dialogue pages there is reference to a Wokingham history book .... does anyone know if this is available on line??  I live on Vancouver Island ( West Coast of Canada ) and I need to rely on the internet.

Thanks to all for this interesting read......Regards Bob on Vancouver Island

Devon Lookup Requests / Re: Woolfardisworthy - Bideford Reg. - BREND Marriage
« on: Saturday 18 March 06 03:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi John and Thanks for suggestion. But given this John Brend had a son John and his father was John I think I will stick with the whole John thing for now !!  The puzzle is that only Johns name shows up on the page 88 A or * and no Elizabeth.  Bob Scales.

Devon Lookup Requests / Woolfardisworthy - Bideford Reg. - BREND Marriage
« on: Thursday 16 March 06 04:00 GMT (UK)  »
John Brend b/1826 Woolfardisworthy shows in census married to Elizabeth --- b/1826 Parkham. First child born 1847.  Free BMD lists marriage, June 1/4 1847,  of John Brend Vol. X, Page 88 A or *.  GRO reports that marriage is not to Elizabeth.  Any assistance in checking church or parish records would be greatly appreciated.
