Hi,

I cannot make out what cause of death is. Begins with the letter "M" and possibly ends in "us". Hopefully you can see it better than me.

The Common Room / The Clutha Vaults, Glasgow tragedy
« on: Saturday 30 November 13 20:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Folks,

As one of the Scottish Moderators, I felt it prudent to say a few words on the tragedy that happened last night, when a Police helicopter crashed in on the roof of the Clutha Vaults pub in the centre of Glasgow.

Today, our St Andrews Day has been impaired with reports of 8 confirmed fatalities, 3 in the Police helicopter and 5 patrons of the pub, who had been listening to a band. Our thoughts and prayers, go to the families and friends of the victims.

My thanks to the Glaswegians, who ran towards the pub, and tried to get all the patrons from the pub, at great risk to themselves. So although saddened by the tragedy, a great source of pride in the people of Glasgow who assisted, and to the emergency services.

Hi All,

I thought I would add this link to a "Lost Edinburgh" article in the "Scotsman" re Register House in Edinburgh, I never knew about the saga about the length of time that it took to complete.

Technical Help / Viewing images on Scotland Peoples (SP) on Mac
« on: Sunday 19 May 13 11:39 BST (UK)  »
Anybody using Macbook Air or similar, able to view images on SP by Java Viewer rather than Direct Download. I can direct download but it takes me into a rather basic viewer but would prefer a viewer that I could edit slightly.
SP give details that Mac users may have to add a MRJ 2.2.5 plugin, but I am not sure where to find it and how to apply it. Only had Mac for 6 weeks so still a bit of a novice with it.

The Common Room / Sore Eyes, Headaches, adjust the brightness
« on: Friday 11 January 13 14:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

I have found some of the PC's and laptops I have seen, have very bright screens which can hurt the eyes. I have turned the brilliance down to 85% approx, for mains power and battery. On Windows 7, the path to the brilliance settings is
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings at the bottom, there are 2 sliders one for mains and one for battery, try lowering the sliders then press "Save". You may have to adjust a few times to get optimum setting. Hope this helps.

Technical Help / Clicking on Surname Interests from iPad goes to Home page
« on: Thursday 10 January 13 12:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I wonder if there is a workaround for clicking on "Surname Interests" from iPad goes to Home page. A few people have noticed, I tried to search for "surname interests" on Search on Rootschat but ended up clicking on another link which ended up on "Home" page again.
