Have you tried looking on Genuki - Lancashire?...You might get lucky!...I know they have a Database for Shoemakers!

Hi John...Thanks for your helpful response....I should have said...he was living in Ormskirk in 1841...with parents Dominick and Cathe both born in Ireland around 1791!

Could anyone please be kind enough to locate James Carroll...born around 1843 in Ormskirk, Lancahsire...the only sighting I can find is in 1881 when he is a Catholic Priest in Barrow in Furness!

Thanks for that Pam and for responding so quickly...I have this one as a possitive lead... but this morning i have received confrimation from Salford R.O. that Margaret Ann Jones was born in Salford in 1848 but Ellen (Carroll) Jones didn't marry Joseph Jones until 1855 in Salford!

I would appreciate a look up on the 1851 census for Ellen Carroll b. around 1826 in Ieland and living in lancashire possibly Salford Ellen was a Dressmaker.
She should have daughters Margaret Ann b. Salford 1848 and Ellen b. Salford 1849
Ellen later married Joseph Thomas  Jones who was a Blacksmith .. the two girls Surnames would be Jones!
Any help would be much appreciated!
