The Lighter Side / Re: RootsChat 20th Anniversary - 31 st December 2023
« on: Monday 01 January 24 15:56 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks to Sarah, Trystan and all the Moderators for giving us this wonderful playground. I, and others migrated from the then, "BBC Forum" to Rootschat on a recommendation from jc26red and have never looked back. This free Family History website is unique in so many ways and I am so pleased to be a part of it for the last 17 years. The help that I received with my Family History was invaluable and has helped knock down so many brick walls for me across the globe.
Having also had many torn cracked and creased old photos brought back to life, I decided that I would like to repay the kindness and help that I had received by purchasing a photo editing software to give something back to the Rootschat community. After a shaky start, I was soon able to contribute to the forums which is the essence which Rootschat is all about. Happy 20th Anniversary...Long may it continue.

Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New year.

Aw aren't they beautiful Gadget, we saw some in a shop window a couple of years ago when we were in Harlech. The main exhibit had won an award  and if I remember right the lady who had made was well known and in her 80s.

The ladies' fashion is typical of the the 1930s.

Hi Peter and welcome to Rootschat, Going by the ladies footwear, this looks to have been taken in the 1920s. Lovely image. A hi-res scan at about 600dpi of just the lapel badge could help to identify the male sitter.

Thanks ever so much everyone for all your work. They are all such an improvement on the original and I’m very grateful, not to mention impressed. (I like the abstract one but my mum would hate it.)

That did make me laugh, my Mother would have hated too  ;D ;D

One from me too. I tried to keep some age to it.

One thing I have noticed, something that Gadget pointed out to me, is that AI only works on facial features (which seem to be greatly exaggerated) and the extraneous elements remain unchanged.
