Desperately seeking the Browns of Hackney.
In the 1841 census Robert Brown is age 50 a Tin Plater of Bowling Green St, Hackney, the family are; wife Elizabeth age 45 and children Mary age 16, Eleanor age 15, Frederic age 14, Ann age 13 and Amelia age 5, whole family born in the county (Middlesex).
In the 1851 census Robert is age 61 a Zinc Plate worker of Hindel? St, West Hackney, the family are wife Elizabeth age 55 and Emily age 15 (presumably Amelia in the 1841) all 3 born in Hackney.
I am unable to find any of their birth records either in the IGI or the local churches.
St John Hackney (IGI seems to stop at 1812) so I have checked the baptisms from 1823 to 1828 for St John at the LMA and no children of Robert Brown listed.
Last week I checked St Mary Stoke Newington (IGI also seems to stop at 1812) and again no children of Robert Brown.
Surviving non conformist records seem to on the IGI.
Does anyone know of other churches in the vicinity of Hackney whose records for the 1820s are not on the IGI?
Many thanks
Derek
