Ok I've just checked and I do have their marriage. Her parents were Andrew Mackenzie and Willamina Larnhac - I think it's spelt something like that. Andrew was a sailor so that's maybe why she was born at sea.

Hi whilst looking on the 1921 Census I noticed
my great grandmother Mary Sutherland nee Mackenzie was born at sea. I know nothing of her family but do know the Sutherland's originated from the Orkney isles so not sure if her mother was crossing over to the mainland from Orkney and gave birth to her on board ship. Could anyone throw any light on this please and what occupation would they have been doing in 1858.
