Family History Beginners Board / Re: Illegitimate Birth
« on: Monday 18 March 24 08:55 GMT (UK)  »
I have bought that and the mother is Mary Dixon nee. Armstrong and father Robert Dixon who is the sister of Ann and Catherine. I can't find a marriage between Ann Armstrong and Thomas Mitchelson nor Mary Armstrong and Robert Dixon both would have married in Cumberland or County Durham (maybe Scotland but unlikely) between 1864 and 1871. I have checked everywhere  ??? :-\
There is a marriage in Weardale between Hannah Armstrong and Thomas Mitchelson in September 1883 10a363
My great grandparents married after three of their children were born so unless you know Ann or Thomas was dead ( sorry if I missed that) it’s worth broadening your time span

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: ancestry's chromosome painter - odd results
« on: Friday 27 October 23 19:52 BST (UK)  »
In the FAQ under the chromosome reader it says that if you and a match have the same ethnicity on a chromosome it doesn’t mean your dna is identical and that it is not possible to tell where you share dna with someone. Which I guess means it’s just a fluke if it matches up. I have 24% Irish according to ancestry ( which matches my expectations ), showing on 14 chromosomes. My daughter has 7% Irish from me and does actually share 4 of these locations. However she also has Swedish and danish from my side  but these are on a different chromosome to me. Not sure that helps but it seems it’s normal!

The first word might be “ empyema” which is apparently a purulent pleuritis which would need draining and this would leave scars

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Ethnicity Updates on Ancestry

Mine hasn’t changed at all this time. I should have Scottish which disappeared a couple of years ago - the rest of it does actually pretty much match my expectations. However, my daughter has just done her DNA - a bit more Scottish (12%) than we expected- including 5% inherited from parent 2 -me! How??!

Well my traits have now disappeared bar the three free ones. Although I did screenshot them for future laughs ….

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Ancestry Traits

Has anyone found that Ancestry DNA is showing traits even though it has not been paid for?
I’ve got 42 traits showing although I’ve never ordered it and my dna test was done around 4 years ago. My husband’s dna which I manage doesn’t have traits. Strange but quite interesting to read!
