Rosie

I have found a medal record for a George McCulloch, (spelt McCullock), ref number    WO 372/12/204939
He was a private in the South Lancashire Regiment, regiment number 3389.

How can I find out more information on this to see if it could my Grandad.

Regards Jayne

Chempat

The marriage certificate states deceased, (you can never know if this is true or just wished!!)

Dad was married on 26/04/1938 if that is any help.

Hi Rosie

Thank you so much for that, I have requested a copy of information for James Jack McCulloch from the National Archives.
The real person I need information on now is my Grandad - George Chalmers McCulloch (James Jack's brother).
I don't suppose you could work your magic on him, or, let me know how I could try and find the information as I am hitting brick walls!!

Regards Jayne

Hi Rosie
That's unbelievable, thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly.

Can we be certain that this is the same James Jack McCulloch, as by my records show Teresa was still in Yorkshire in 1917!! Everything else fits though.

Are you a descendant of this couple?

Hi all
I am new to Roots Chat and I am really hoping there is someone out there who can help me with information on my Grandad. George Chalmers McCulloch

He was born George Chalmers McCulloch in Edinburgh on 21 Mar 1877.

He moved to Yorkshire between 1881 and 1891 with his family.  George married a Yorkshire lass,  Laura Fisher 03/08/1908  and had one son (my Dad Thomas Chalmers McCulloch):   I cannot find any trace of George Chalmers McCulloch after the 1911 Census in which he lived 8 Saxby Street, Pendleton, Lancashire, Yorkshire with his sister  Francis and his niece Lilian

His siblings were;

Francis Chalmers McCulloch 29/05/1867
Married a Benjamin Lawson in 1893, who I believe had 2 children, William Lawson and Anna Spurry Lawson.  And 3 Grandchildren Eileen Lawson (Married Jack Lockett), Harold Lawson and a Dawson Lawson (Married a Dorothy Hartley).

Sarah Wallace Barr McCulloch 19/03/1869
It is believed she had a daughter out of wedlock A Lilian McCulloch 13/05/1888
I believe she then married a John Wooliscroft  (date unknown but may be around 1899).
Children may be:
Thomas Wooliscroft 26/03/1900
Leonard Wooliscroft 16/11/1901
Arthur Wooliscroft 1903 Died 1903
Sarah Anna Wooliscroft 1908 Died 1908

David McCulloch 16/06/1873  (May have died in 1st World War  in more information needed)

James Jack McCulloch July 1875 (need more information, did he die in 1st world war or did he emigrate to Australia?)
Jack Married a Teresa Rutter 9/12/1899
They had 2 Children
William James McCulloch around Aug 1901
Dorothy McCulloch Around Feb 1904
I know Teresa emigrated to Brisbane Australia in  1920 with her children.

Zella Knott McCulloch 14/01/1879
Married a George Henry Rutter (who was adopted by Teresa Rutter's father) in Bradford 1898.
They emigrated to Queensland Australia 2905/1911.
I believe they had a daughter out there a Margaret Rutter 21/08/1914

Any help would be very much appreciated as I am going around in circles with no luck.
