Cumberland / Taylor family line in Cumberland
« on: Friday 24 April 20 22:16 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone done any research on the Taylor line in England? I have some of my ancestors from that area. One of my ancestors is John Taylor born in 1607.
Some of my Taylor line is from England and some from Scotland and Ireland. I've researched as far back as the 8th/9th century. Hope to connect with anyone who is working on this family.
Let me know how we can connect.

Has anyone done any research on the Taylor line in County Antrim besides me?
One of my ancestors is Andrew Taylor born in 1731 or 1733 before arriving in East Tennessee.

Mine are Germany, England, Ireland, Scotland and England. Families from those countries:
Harr/Hart-Germany
Dykes/Pleasant-England
Townsend/Townshend/Taylor-Scotland, Ireland, England

Are there any other people researching any of the above names?

Ireland / Townsend/Townshend
« on: Wednesday 15 April 20 22:47 BST (UK)  »
My Townsend/Townshend line originated from Ireland and some may have come via Scotland. I haven't checked to see which ones. I've only been able to only verify back to my 5th great grandfather. I've seen that the Townsend line goes as far back as the 10th century.
Is anyone else following this line?

Antrim / My Taylor line was from Antrim County Ireland

My 6th great grandfather, Isaac Taylor (1710-1781) was born there. He settled in Rockbridge County, VA in 1746. I also had an ancestor, Andrew Taylor, Sr. (5th great grandfather 1731-1787) born there too. He died in Washington County TN. He was married twice-Elizabeth Wilson and then Ann Wilson.

Has anyone else found that their Taylor line originated from this part of Ireland or another county?

Scotland / Re: Taylor family in Scotland

What I've discovered is that the Taylor's originated from Ireland, Scotland and England. I've been able to research as far back as the 9th century. I have Rowland Taylor (1510-1555) as my 12th great grandfather and have Baron Hanger Taylifer (1256-1336) as my 21st great grandfather. I have William II Tailefer born about 960 in my line.
Seems  some of the Taylor's immigrated on the ship Truelove to the USA. Some settled in PA, KY, TN, VA and NC. What have any others discovered?

Armed Forces / Civil War Ancestors
« on: Wednesday 15 April 20 20:20 BST (UK)  »
I found that I had several Civil War ancestors. Some fought for the Union and some for the Confederacy. Believe I had more with the Confederacy. I've done plenty of research and found anywhere from 35 to over 40. The majority enlisted either in Tennessee or North Carolina. I had some that enlisted in Arkansas and some other states. I had both enlisted and officers, including some Lt. Colonels. Some died in prisons and some died in hospitals after being wounded. Some actually died on the battlefield. I had one group of ancestors who were with the 13th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry (Union).
Have any of you found out the same thing?
