Shropshire / Re: GUESTs - Broseley

To add to this thread (7 years later)
I have just found my connection to the Guest family of Broseley.

I have for years struggled with my Harris family that originate from Birmingham, however this weekend I found a grave in Madeley which has revealed a fair few more names for my tree.

My connection is Fanny Guest bn 1771, Daughter of Alexander Guest bn 1741 to John and Penelope.
Fanny married John Harris, unfortunately my search on the Harris family stops again as he died 1820 in London and I can't find anymore information on him.
However the find at least allows me to discover Fanny's family.

Hi all,

Hope that someone can help me with my Owens, I'm trying to not mix any families up so think the below grandchildren can help me link to the children of William and Sarah.
I have found Hannah and Sarah, I just need help with Hadadla if possible.

1851 Census,
Owens Fold, Dawley
William Owen Head 73 Dawley
Sarah Owen Wife 72
Benjamin Owen Son 39
Hannah Owen Granddau 15
Hadadla Owen Granddau 5
Sarah Ball Granddau 1

Thank you

Katie  ;D

Thank you for checking....

I will have to rely on the what is written in the Wills, Thomas did live in Drayton also and baptised most of his children there too.

Thats the one that I originally chose to follow as there was no other Thomas's born in Shropshire in that year.

Unfortunately, everyone else with the same family on Ancestry have also followed the Hinstock line.

Shropshire / Steele of Woodseaves
« on: Friday 29 December 17 20:11 GMT (UK)  »
I have this week found after 11 years of putting together my Steele tree (with lots of help from the lovely people on here), that I have followed the wrong tree.... I am however missing the baptism record of my 4th Great Grandfather, (Thomas Steele bn.1771, died 1846 Wellington, Shropshire) which would be my confirmation with this other family.

I came across my 4th Great Grandfathers will, which names a Brother George of Woodseaves. I have since found all the Wills of the family in Woodseaves including his father which names him among his other brothers.
I have been through the parish records for Drayton in Hales and found all the siblings of Thomas Steele, and as mentioned in John Steels Will. But no Thomas

Here is the Family...

John Steel d.1817 Wife possibly Elizabeth Gee m. 1763 Woodseaves

William bn.1763
Jane bn. 1768
John bn.1770
Thomas bn.1771
George bn. 1774
Sarah bn. 1775
Joseph bn. 1778
James bn. 1782

If anyone would like to take this challenge of finding Thomas's baptism that would be really appreciated  :)

I have received his marriage cert and have now the following info...

Married January 24th, 1914 at West Bromwich, Registry Office
Alfred Jones 23 years, Core Maker, 41 Broadwell Road, father Thomas Jones, Works Laborer
Mabel Harvey 23 years, Dressmaker, 4 Trinity Street, father Henry Harvey, Brewer

witnesses...Henry Harvey and Mary Jones.

Anyone like to help me confirm the right family for Alfred?

Thanks

Katie

Thank you for your help,
Turns out we had the wrong year of birth for Mabel, so was going down the wrong line completely.

Thankfully with a little help from the 1939 register I have now found the correct family, now just to wait for the marriage certificate.... there are far too many Alfred Jones born 1890 :o

That would be the same tree, using familysearch.org I can only see one passenger list that matches his birth year and thats in 1906 and part of the Barnados Party.

Nope can't even find him.... If the ancestry member tree is correct the son George Alfred arrived in Canada in 1901 aged 13. But surely they wouldn't have sent him over there alone?!
