London and Middlesex / Re: Charles Harding... unlocatable before 1864

I think I've found them in 1841. Charles has been transcribed as 24, although I'm pretty sure it says 2 and with a scribble or 1/4 written next to it. They are in Harrow on the Hill, where Charles was baptised and there is a Thomas aged 20 with them. Also Thomas senr's occupation is Canal something which links nicely with Charles occupation as boat-man.

Oh my you are all amazing! Thank you so much. I really had thought I had no chance of finding Charles before his marriage.

In 1911 his birth place is Langley, Worcs... but he is boarder at a house with his son. So I'd assume this not to be accurate.

I took his birth year from the marriage certificate, he is aged 22 and married 19 Dec 1864. On his second marriage he is aged 41 on the 25th Dec 1864 (Although marrying a 28 year old so potentialy wanted to a be a little bit closer to her age).

London and Middlesex / Charles Harding... unlocatable before 1864

Hello,

I've recently come across a difficult ancestor and as much as I like a challenge I really can't seem to solve this one.

Charles Harding bn1842 Middlesex he married Lucy Rowley in 1864 Dudley, Worcestershire. On his marrage certificate his father is Thomas Harding, contractor. He marries again in 1884, and states the same father & occupation.  Charles' occupation is boatman.  I have looked for baptisms with Charles father Thomas to no avail... I have searched 1861 census hoping that at aged 19 he'd be a boatman and hopefully easier to find, but nope.
I saw his children stated as nephew on the 1891 census after the death of his first wife. I almost got excited... but nope it was his wifes family.

The only census I can't find Charles on after 1861 is the 1891. All his births apart from in the 1911 census state Middlesex. One looks like it says Willesden and another one Appleton Valley.

Have I missed something? or am I looking in the wrong place altogether?

Thanks, Katie

Hello all,

In need of some help solving the Weston family of Kynnersley... They all like to use the same names for their children.

Here is what I have so far...

My4xG,Grandmother Elizabeth Weston bn 1826, Kynnersley.
I believe her mother is Ann bn 1794 to William and Sarah.

Ann never married and had 3 illegitimate children that I know of Sarah 1819 and Thomas 1831, are the other two.

I'd like to see if I could go further back but I'm stuck at William and Sarah. There is a marriage 28/11/1791 for a William Weston to a Sarah Latham.

I can't find any other children to William and Sarah.

There is two other families at the same time in Kynnersley. Both William but with an Alice and Margaret.

I'm hoping that someone might be able to see something I haven't?!

Thank you in advance to anyone who has a peek at this one!

Katie :)

Hi Jamie,

Thank you for your reply, I am the owner of the Steele Family tree on Ancestry.
Edwin Alexander Harris is my 3xG.Grandfather so I think that makes us 5th Cousins.

That is a wealth of information, Thank you. I had figured out the children were Thomas's but had yet to go into any more detail. I actually went for a walk down Ironbridge the other week and diverted to go find the grave of Peter and Edwin George.

Have you done much research on the Harris's? I hit a brick wall with the family when I first started my research 16 years ago. Gladly was able to break that down last year but have come to a halt again.

I'd love to know more on how and where you found out all that information. I've found my paternal side a lot easier to research in detail due to them being Farmers etc and frequently in the Newspapers however my maternal side were all miners and I have a few gaps as I can't find anymore records of them.

Montgomeryshire Lookup Requests / Thomas Jones C1800 Trefeglyws
« on: Sunday 13 January 19 13:16 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out the name of Thomas' mother.

I have just found his marriage certificate to his second wife that shows father to be John Jones, Shoemaker. But I am struggling to find a baptism for Thomas to show his mothers name.

So If anyone would like a challenge;

Thomas Jones c1800 Trefeglyws
married Elizabeth Swancott 1820, then Mary Davies 1863,
Lived at Bronhendre, Llanidloes. He was also a shoemaker.

Thank you :)

Worcestershire / Harris, Feckenham

Hi,

I'm hoping someone might like a challenge in helping me find more information of my Harris' from Feckenham.

I've traced them back to Thomas and Susannah Harris, who married 30 Sep 1766, in Feckenham.
Susannah is also a Harris.

They had 6 (I think) children; Susannah, Sarah, Ursula, Letitia, John and Philip.

I'm ideally wanting to go back another generation. I have done my DNA with ancestry and that shows that I have ancestors from southern England. Yet these Harris' are the closest I have to being southern.

Thank you and Merry Christmas

Katie

Yes I did think that rather odd, but as it was not legal to marry your step daughter. They probably wanted to avoid Madeley.

I have already assumed Ann Harris and Sarah Ann Harris Wilcox to be the same person.

Thank you, I am aware of the free access... I just lack the time to visit. I aim to go one day during the Christmas holidays, as long as it is open. I will eventually subscribe to Ancestry/Findmypast again soon I just lack a personal laptop atm and have to rely on others.

Thank you everyone for your help with look ups etc :)
