« on: Thursday 13 September 12 10:49 BST (UK)  »
I have been having trouble again with time outs in IE 8 when uploading pictures. Six tries and no luck. I changed to Google Chrome and uploaded immediately.

Anybody else having the same problem?

The Lighter Side / Baaazilll ........
« on: Sunday 19 August 12 18:53 BST (UK)  »
With apologies to Fawlty Towers.

A friend with the family name of Thompstone/Thumpstone? asked could I do her tree. Well a whole week of web search etc I have quite a few.

One branch used Rathbone as a Christian name, so I followed this line and found a link, not a blood line, to Basil Rathbone the famous film star.

Oh yes, and they were called Thumpstone in many cases.

The Lighter Side / You never know what you will get
« on: Friday 06 July 12 13:12 BST (UK)  »
I have received an e-mail from a man in Washington DC regarding my Madresfield History web site. Just routine I thought. I then saw that the relatives he listed lived  next door to my 3 x gt grand parents, and they worked on the farm managed by another of his relatives.

Genealogy is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get!

We are still in contact.

The Lighter Side / The Parish House Hanley Castle
« on: Saturday 30 June 12 12:32 BST (UK)  »
In 1841 census I found my early relis, and was over the moon. Some years later I am reassessing my tree and checking details, I see they were resident as a family in  The Parish House along with several other families.

Would this be a work house? Or would it be a charity?

I am confused, searched many places, what do the following mean and how do the reports differ?

Rootsmagic narrative reports:
Descendants:

NGSQ (modified register)
NEHGS (register)
Outline (indented) sort of explains itself
Henry (indented)
D'Aboville (indented)

Which do you prefer?

Many  thanks.

Galway / Catherine Tully Galway
« on: Sunday 13 May 12 14:21 BST (UK)  »
Just a wild hope that somebody may be researching Catherine Tully:

Born 1829 Castleblakeney, Galway
In Mount Bellow workhouse 1853 -this is documented
Shipped to Australia in the ship "Palestine" 1853 -this is documented
Set up home with Joseph Watkins in York Western Australia-proven
Died 1901

We have some info but would like to find her family who may have come to UK.

Thank you

Mike
