Samuel William Davies never married Dorothy Phillips. He married Harriet Luke in 1921 and had one son with her. Dorothy appears to have been his second partner. By 1934, he has another son with his third partner Frances Bertha Beckley. They are still living together in 1939 (she is mistakenly identified as Dorothy). Samuel marries his second wife (fourth partner) Selina cartwright Perry in 1961. So, there are officially only two marriages. To my knowledge, divorce was expensive at that time, which could be why he didn't marry Dorothy or Frances. I'm related through Samuel's mother Esther Sanderson, so I know more about that branch of the family.
