Warwickshire / William Carpenter - birth info
« on: Monday 11 November 13 20:56 GMT (UK)  »
Good day all,

I am looking for the birth record for William Carpenter of Lapworth, Warwickshire. His first wife is Ann Reading, married 1821 in Lapworth, and his second wife Sarah Court, married 1846 in Solihull. He had several children between these two ladies and resided in Lapworth. I am related to him through his son Samuel Carpenter, bn to Sarah in 1848. I suspect William Carpenter was born about 1700 in Lapworth, but have not been able to verify this. Any help to do this  and find out who his parents are will be greatly appreciated.

Cornwall / Eliza/beth Couch's birth and parents
« on: Friday 03 August 12 06:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am attempting to  trace my 2G-grandmother and her ancestors. The 1st thing I am after is her birth document since I am attempting to find out who her mother is. Her father is Henry Couch, a carpenter. She married Samuel Langmaid of Fowey, Cornwall in St Austell in 1845. The pair settled in Portsea and raised their children there before emmigrating to Canada in 1870. I believe Elisa or Elizabeth was born between 1815 and 1820 in the Fowey-St. Austell area. Any help confirming her birth and who her mother would be greatly appreciated, thx.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Holts of Romsey
« on: Saturday 02 July 11 16:45 BST (UK)  »
Good Day,

I am tracing my grandmother's Holt family line, and have traced them back to Nicholas Holt, bn 1602, who was supposedly from Romsey, Hampshire and sailed to Boston, USA in 1635 on the James of London with his wife aand daughter. His father may have been Sir John Holt or Sir Thomas Holt of Romsey, bn abt the 1570s. I am attempting to verify that Nicholas was born in Romsey and who his father is. I would also like to find out who is mother and his siblings are. If anyone can help with this it is very much appreciated.

World War Two / Stationed Candian Soldiers in England - Rayment
« on: Wednesday 20 April 11 19:22 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am attempting to find out where my twin g-uncles who fought in WW2 visited cousins in England during the 2nd world war. I assuming for the moment it would have been close to where they were stationed since the transporation system would have been disrupted by the war. Is there a way to find out where Canadian soldiers were stationed during the war. I am guessing at the moment my ancestors were stationed west of London in the mid-southern part of England somewhere - perhaps Wiltshire as my best guess. Any help with this is appreciated.

United States of America / Orrin Holt of USA
« on: Tuesday 26 October 10 03:43 BST (UK)  »
Hello Rootschatters,

My ggg-grandfather, born in Ashford CT in 1796, moved to Keene Valley, NYS with his family when young and then before 1831, when he married, he came to Canada. His name is Orrin Holt. What I am looking for is his birth record in Ashford.  Smith Holt and Lydia Snow are his parents. His parents died in Keene Valley. I cannot find any evidence of his birth except in his obit written in the Brantford Ontario Expositor in 1887. I am wondering if anyone has any tips or help as to finding his birth record(s). I am hoping this record would conclusively connect Orrin to Lydia and Smith. I am also looking for evidence of his move to Canada, but will leave that for another time if needed. Hope someone can help with this,

Kind Regards.
