Berkshire / St. Helens - where?
« on: Wednesday 19 March 08 14:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

I have a marriage for William Radborn & Sarah Hill on 12.10.1795 at St. Helens, Abingdon, both are of Dry Sandford.

When I "Google" Dry Sandford, the parish church is St. Helens.

Is the St. Helens in Dry Sandford also the St. Helens in Abingdon?

Regards
Janet

Berkshire / Sir Ferys Kernyg - St. Helens, Abingdon
« on: Wednesday 27 February 08 20:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

Sir Ferys Kernyg was the scribe of the register for St. Helens, Abingdon between 1538 -1553.  I've 'Googled' the whole name, the given name and the family name - no results.

Does anyone have any info or can you point me in a research direction please?

A Sarah Curenick, married in 1767 in Stratford upon Avon, was my 5x grandmother.  I've been unable to find her baptism in SonA or any possible siblings.  Neither can I find a marriage for her parents.  As there aren't many instances of the name, I was wondering if there may be a connection.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Oxfordshire / BUSBY in Fringford
« on: Monday 25 February 08 15:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

Does anyone have access to or is able to look up a birth for James Busby about 1797 in Fringford

As he is on most census returns for Fringford, he may have married Hannah circa 1815 to 1826 in Fringford.

Would appreciate any help.

Warwickshire / Roman Catholic Registers - St. Chads
« on: Monday 25 February 08 10:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

I've just received the marriage cert for my g.g.g.grandparents Richard Palmer and Ann Price to find that they were married at St. Chads Cathedral, B.ham in 1847.  This expains the fruitless searches on the IGI for them or their children.  I have them on census returns for '51, '61 and 71 - can find neither Richard or Ann in '41.  Richard's father was Joseph and he was a jeweller, but Ann's father is just given as Price! - very helpful - although he was a painter.

I've tried accessing St. Chads webpage but it looks like it's no longer there.

Does anyone know if the PR's have been fiched or copied in any form that I can view or purchase?

Armed Forces / The Military Train
« on: Thursday 22 November 07 14:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

My g.g.grandfather William Andrews was, according to the 1861 Census, a private in the Military Train, at the time in barracks in Aldershot.  I believe his service was quite short, joining after 1857 and leaving before 1871 when he appears to be in hospital in Birmingham (his birthplace) with his family living locally.

Until I can get to Kew to search for him, can anyone tell me if there was a specific uniform and badge for this regiment please?  I've "Googled" Military Train but nothing appropriate comes up.

Hello All

Should anyone be going to Bristol R.O. would they be every so kind and look for the baptism of Samuel Bush in Bitton 13th September 1747.  I believe his parents should be Laurence Bush and Mary Harding.

Many thanks
